The accommodation of the wishes of terrorists has been an over-riding doctrine within Irish political life. For seventy years, Europe's most vicious and deadly terrorist group, the IRA, operated with absolute impunity from the soil of the Irish Republic. Not only did it launch a campaign of genocide against the people of Northern Ireland from the Republic, but there are disturbing accusations of the Irish State colluding in many brutal murders committed within Northern Ireland. The outrage in the comments is visceral. "I would like to condemn utterly the horrific Israeli air force attack in Gaza." This was followed up with the equally blunt, "Has Ariel Sharon any moral sense at all?" Such ill-informed and hysterical reaction to the Israeli strike on the Hamas terrorist mastermind Salah Shehade was predictable. After all, Israel has very few friends in Europe. However what may surprise is the singular fact that the speaker was in fact the Israeli Press Officer, Dr. Noreen O'Carroll, at the Israeli Embassy in Dublin! To be attacked from the outside is one thing; but from within is quite another. How could such a situation prevail in Ireland? The Irish aversion to fighting terrorism is part of the explanation, along with understanding the discrete but seething hatred of Israel that so disfigures the Emerald Isle, along with most of the European Union. After 3000 murders, the Irish Government can still not bring itself to move against the terrorists. Instead it indulgences their propagandists in positions of Government! A political class so inured to the immorality of killing is incapable of confronting terrorism wherever it finds it. Instead it embraces it. That is why when the Israeli Defense Force cornered 13 vicious Palestinian terrorists at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, Ireland promptly volunteered to offer "sanctuary" (as the Irish Prime Minister put it) to two of these hardened killers. This cowardly act was met with universal media approval in Ireland, with much concern being expressed as to the protection of the "human rights" of the two Palestinian terrorists. Not a mention was made of the litany of murder that they had committed against innocent men, women and children in Israel. Not all people deserve to have human rights, apparently. With terrorism seen as nothing worse than a more vigorous form of political activity, the Irish intelligentsia views Arafat and his killers as just another oppressed minority. The obscene bombings and shootings carried out against the Israeli people by these gangsters bring echoes of similar atrocities perpetrated against the British people in Northern Ireland by Irish terrorists. Anybody expecting Irish political condemnation of Arafat is living in cloud cuckoo land! The Irish media is also aggressively anti-Israeli and proudly pro-Palestinian. Media pundits supporting Arafat and his killing regime abound. Those who take a diametrically opposed position are not permitted any media platform. In this Pravda manner, the Irish people are subjected to constant Palestinian propaganda with no opportunity to be exposed to an effective injection of truth. This brings us back to prime Palestinian apologist (and Israeli Press Officer) Dr. O'Carroll. Her obvious disbelief that a terrorist warlord can be assassinated is understandable. She believes that this kind should be appeased. Her contempt for Ariel Sharon in trying to save Israeli lives is only exceeded by her admiration for those denizens of Gaza City who spent their time trying to dream up new ways to kill Israelis. In Ireland public demonstrations in support of the godfather of terrorism Arafat are plentiful. I am unaware of any in support of Israel. Dr. O'Carroll's opinions were seized upon by Irish hacks to underline and obviate their own innate anti-Israeli prejudices. Their immoral canon for appeasing terrorists was trotted out yet again. This reduces to nothing more sophisticated than; a) Killing terrorists only creates more terror; b) Dialogue with terrorists is a much enlightened option, and c) Conceding to the terrorists' demands is a sign of a truly sophisticated society. Dr. O'Carroll is a symptom of the moral decadence that exemplifies European political life. She has a perfect right to express her malignant views on Israel. However she has no right to do so whilst working for the Israeli government. Israel must expunge the enemy from within. |

Please remove this pathetic attempt at Zionist propaganda from the wire, as it is unnecessary clutter. If for no other reason then for its complete lack of historical accuracy, ignoring the fact that the free state government imprisoned hundreds of Irish republicans during the troubles and that during the 1980's as a result of the Offences Against the State Act, the free state was a virtual police state. Take it down; with free speech there comes the responsibility to speak honestly and intelligently, not to spout unsupported tripe and propaganda.
If people like the author feel so strongly about their ignorance then perhaps we should try to educate them.
The author obviously feels strongly about the Zionist cause, but before I even get started with that I ask a simple question. When a person is murdered in Dublin, what is the first thing the investigating police do? Why they look for a motive. So when a Palestinian kills an Israeli in Jerusalem, what is the first thing the investigating police do? Look for a motive? Unfortunately not, in fact to even acknowledge a motive would be to discredit large tracts of the Zionist cause. During the illegal Israeli incursion into Jenin, the UN secretary general was quoted as saying "It is very urgent that we go in, find out what happened, and put all the rumours and accusations behind us," This was not permitted by Ariel Sharon and therefore Yesterday's UN report on the event in question has been roundly pointed out to be not worth the paper it's printed on. During the incursion it looked and smelled like a crime. This report only confirms this!
If indeed the author, as seems by his article, believes in the Zionist cause and really is as ill-informed as seems, I just want to point out a couple of things crucial to the Zionist cause.
Israel uses the bible as it's reference point to it's perceived right to the land it currently dwells in. So what does the bible really have to say about this? Well here is just a small sample:
In the bible when god spoke about Israelites return to the land of milk and honey(Israel) he noted that there were already inhabitants dwelling there. Of this he noted:
"....for I will hand over to you the inhabitants of the land, and you shall drive them out before. You shall make no covenant with them or their gods. They shall not live in your land, or they will make you sin against me;..."(Exodus 23.27-33)
This may seem tame enough but it continues:
"When Yahweh your god brings you into the land that you are about to enter and occupy, and he clears away many nations before you - the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites....and when your god gives them over to you and you defeat them, you must utterly destroy them. Make no covenant with them and show them no mercy....Break down their altars, smash their pillars, hew down their sacred poles, and burn their idols with fire. For you are a people holy to Yahweh your god; Yahweh your god has chose out of all the peoples on earth to be his people, his treasured possession."(Deuteronomy 7.1-11; see also 9.1-5; 11.8-9, 23, 31-2).
This is followed by an instruction to use inhabitants, who do not surrender, as forced labour. As for those who do not surrender to the Israelites, the males shall all be killed and the women, children, livestock and everything else taken as booty.(Deuteronomy 20.11-14)
Next up is the presentation of ethnic cleansing as not only legitimate, but as required by the divinity:
"But as for the towns of these peoples that Yahwah your god is giving you as an inheritance, you must not let anything that breathes remain alive. You shall annihilate them - the Hittites and the Amorites, the Canaanites and the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites - just as Yahweh your god has commanded, so that they may not teach you to do all the abhorrent things that they do for their gods, and you thus sin against Yahweh your god."(Deuteronomy 20.16-18)
Mercifully, in a gesture of ecological indulgence, fruit bearing trees are to be spared, as is a captive beautiful woman whom you desire and want to marry.(Deuteronomy 21.11)
If in the above pieces you substitute the word Canaanites, with the word Palestinians, I think the message of Zionism will become a little clearer, if not crystal! As we can see from the above pieces, Zionism is not only Racism, but as the Oxford dictionary will tell you, it condones, and actively pursues -‘the murder of a race of people’, i.e.: GENOCIDE. Of course these "truths" are conveniently left out of modern day Zionist propaganda’s selective memory.
Clearly your grasp of the history of Israel, and the region concerned is quite poor, and if this is anything to go by, I’m sure you could do with a few lessons on Irish history before you go criticising it. I suggest you pick up a copy of J.J. Lee’s book ‘Politics and Irish Society’. It’s quite a good, and very readable account of Irish history for beginners and more advanced scholars.
Finally, since you insist on using the word ‘terrorist’, (which I find quite frankly racist), has it ever occurred to you that Ariel Sharon, and the Israeli military might just be terrorists too!
You are quoting the Bible ,but you should bear in mind that most Israelis are not very religious and that what you've just quoted is unknown to the common Israeli.
but they still use it as a claim to the land of israel. you can't have your cake and eat it too.
