Free Education for Everyone (FEE) has been at the forefront of the fight against the reintroduction of third level fees since it was founded in UCD September 2008.

*** Please come to Saturday's fundraiser to show your support and help us pay the printing costs of the 50,000 leaflets which were given out leading up to the USI organised 15,000 strong student demo last month.***

(An incomplete timeline of events FEE have organised or been involved in)

October:

+ On October 7th, Fianna Fail TD and Minister of State Martin Mansergh was to speak at a UCD LawSoc debate. FEE called for a demo to greet him on campus. Half an hour before he was supposed to speak, it was announced that he had pulled out.

+ On October 20th, Fianna Fail TD and Minister of Finance Brian Lenihan was asked to chair UCD College of Science's inaugural lectures at the Clinton Institute. FEE and the UCDSU agreed to block the minister's access. His arrival was greeted by over 200 students who held a sit down protest. Overreaction by the police led to the arrest of three students.

+ In November 6th, to mark the International Day of Action Against the Commercialization of Education, UCD FEE held a public meeting and discussion. Gregor Kerr (INTO) spoke on the Budget's Education cuts and the growing commercialisation of education, particularly in primary level and Dan O'Neill (UCDSU) talked about the ongoing fight against the reintroduction of third level fees.

November:

+ On November 12th, UCD FEE led a protest against Fianna Fail TD Conor Lenihan who was due to talk at a debate. He pulled out due that day. At this time, it was also revealed that Mary Hanafin had to pull out of an Ógra Fianna Fáil meeting in UCD citing security costs.

+ On November 17th, UCD FEE activists joined UL FEE in joining a blockade against Minister Martin Cullen's visit to UL. There were many accusations at the time that the ULSU had negotiated with Gardai, on Martin Cullen's behalf, to allow him to enter the campus by another route. There was one arrest.

+ On November 18th, UCD FEE and TCD FEE joined a protest against Batt O'Keefe's visit to Trinity. Twenty UCD FEE activists were forced to leave by TCD security guards.

+ On November 19th UCC FEE organised a demo which saw "hundreds of students from University College Cork and Cork Institute of Technology, lecturers, secondary school students and parents” picket the offices of the Department of Education.

December:

+ On December 4th, over 12 students from UCD FEE occupied the office of Paul Gogarty Green Party TD for Dublin Mid-West and Spokesperson on Education in Lucan Village. After several hours, the gardai broke up the occupation and arrested all present.

In Cork, over twenty students occupied the UCC's President's Office for over an hour this morning before being removed by the Gardai.

In Galway, Over twenty students occupied the office of Eamon O'Cuiv, Fianna Fail TD and Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs. The gardai removed them after an hour and a half.
