Harry Browne Talking About "Hammered by the Irish"
http://www.indymedia.ie/article/89439
Colm to be interviewed this evening on RTE's "The View"
regarding recent solo album "The Hare's Corner"
Well this one went well....at 16.55 thought it was going to be a disaster with not a lot of folks.
Since Damo departed to volunteer in Africa I lost my tech man, so the poster was a real '70's punk cut and paste effort.
I had to find the right colour crayons to fill in the white wording over the tricolour hammer on our last gig poster.
(That's always how it worked with Pitstop gigs, getting by on a wing and a prayer, trying to transcend stress
...by 17.10 it was building and Colm kicked off.
Colm was brilliant and a very gracious nice guy.
If you need convincing check out the above youtube clip.
If you're convinced, consider getting his "latest and first" solo album "The Hare's Corner" which I've got spinning here as I write.
Very moving stuff.
We peaked at 60 folks in the intimate surrounds of the Tower heavy metal section where the stage is set.
Harry had brought 4 family members. About 8 folks who have and volunteered and worked at the homeless shelter I work at showed up.
Good smattering of activists who accompanied us throught the Pitstop trials and folks who happened to be in the shop drawn by the haunting violin. One high school kid I gave aleaflet to at the GPO on Monday came punctually and wants to join the movement, go figure!
Harry as usual was great speaking about his book and its subject.
"Hammered by the Irish" remain available at Tower (they've sold 28) and Connoly Books in Temple Bar and outta my bag should you see me passing in the street! (sold one to a Colombian and another to a Swiss guy in the pub after the gig...a great marketing technique for a blacklisted book in Ireland)
