Looney '09 Campaign Fundraiser

category dublin | miscellaneous | event notice author Wednesday June 11, 2008 20:55author by Looney Left - Labour Party Report this post to the editors

Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 7:30pm
End Time: Sunday, June 15, 2008 at 2:30am
Location: Teach Uí Luanaigh (Looney Family Gaf)
Street: 80 St Columba's Road, Greenhills
City/Town: Dublin, Ireland
"Will you throw us on another chicken burger there Karen?"
"Will you throw us on another chicken burger there Karen?"

Standing for election is a costly business. And beating Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and other corporate-funded machines isn't possible without solid financial support from local people, friends and political comrades.

In this campaign, we've been pretty tight in how we spend our money - we deliver our own leaflets, design our own material and source the best deals. But this fundraiser is crucial to allow us continue the good work.

We'll get and cook the standard BBQ fare; you just need to bring yourself and a few euro to spare for the campaign. After the BBQ we'll finish the night off with a bit of ceol so guitars and other instruments are welcome.

We'll be kicking off at 7.30pm but come when you can. We ask that you give €20 (waged) or €10 (unwaged) to help continue the progress.

FAB! See you there!

Well done Dermot and hope the fundraiser goes well. Elections cost a lot and Socialists and Social Democrats do not have secret big financial backers.

Glad to see that you have a good supporter in Nash - though not so sure i was glad to see that picture with the Cup again.

The working class have just resoundingly rejected Labour and their support for the Euro Eleite and FG/FF right wing agenda. The only voice standing up for the working classes in their struggle agisnt the establishemt of Dublin was Sinn Fein and the SWP.

So I hope you enjoy the barbecue.

We will thanks. Even more so due to the NO vote.

Enjoy life on the micro left.

I would have expected Looney to show more gratitude to the party apparatchiks who pushed through his nomination following his rejection by the branch. Why didn't he state his opposition to the Lisbon Treaty before the announcement of the results? He's just another spinless jelly and self-serving dullard in the Labour Party, unlike the "micro-left" who put forward cognizant, rational and socialist arguments against the Treaty on the doorstep and on the streets over the past few months.

Thankfully the micro-left acted on their beliefs and actually campaigned for a no.

D...where have you been? Haven't you heard of Joe Higgins...the SP...Finian McGrath....the Communist Party...The Workers Party.....certain individuals etc etc etc......maybe you should also check out SF's working class 'credentials and credibility'.

I won't comment on Dermot Lacy....there's NO point!!
