Wise Woman Weekend

category sligo | miscellaneous | event notice author Sunday April 20, 2008 04:13author by Wise Woman - Wise Woman Ireland Report this post to the editors

A festival for women in Northwest Ireland

The fourth Wise Woman Weekend takes place at St Angela's College on Lough Gill, Co Sligo June 6th to June 8th, 2008. This is a weekend of learning, discovery, celebration and fun for women of all ages.

Martyrdom is not all it's cracked up to be. A Wise Woman takes time out from the responsibilities of caring for and meeting the needs of others to focus on her own dreams and well being. The Wise Woman Weekend is a time to be inspired and recharge your spirit, a time to reflect on the authentic you.

The Weekend offers diverse workshops and activities and re members our heritage as women. Some of the workshops include The Way of the Seabhean with Amantha Murphy, Permaculture Garden Design with Sian Cowman and Diving Earth Spirits with Alanna Moore. There is a guided walk to Deerpark Court Cairn with Mary Quinlan, a talk on eating according to your blood type by Dr Prannie Rhatigan, as well as yoga, meditation, singing, dance, weaving, creative writing and ritual.

Judith Hoad will share her elder wisdom in a talk on her life and the aging process, and will guide us in a Standing Woman visualisation to save the world. There is a speaker's corner where women can talk on any topic they want, and an open space forum for group discussion.

The ever popular Wild Woman open mic social is a time to share songs, writing, stories, dance, laughs and tears. A time to let loose and be amazed at the talent of women.

This event is organised with sustainable principles in mind by volunteers. There is a car pool forum on the website to help facilitate car sharing.

Cost for the weekend is euro 140, for Saturday only eur 90. Concession rate and work exchanges are available. Gift certificates are also available.
