Foreign Secretary David Lammy set out "the future of the U.K.'s foreign policy" this week. It's an abysmal vision, says Dr. David McGrogan, but it gives hope that the edifice of 'progressive realism' will soon collapse.

Congratulations to the Peoples Movement who kickstart the No campaign in the north west, when former Green M E P Patrica Mc Kenna speaks at a public meeting in the Glasshouse Hotel next thursday.im sure a large contingent of local Greens will be in attendence to demonstrate their opposition to the Treaty and the position adopted by the Party Hierarchy ,who through their various compromises ,and Sell outs e.g. Shannon/Tara/Incineration etc ,have abandoned core Green principles and policies for the sake of cabinet seats.

Im basically against the treaty.. But it will pass because the "usual suspects" are going to rant and rave against it. The "socialsts" brees . The "flowery dress" type social workers in the nice little cottages on the side of mountains with their organic gardens (or should that be orgasmic). they have destroyed every good campaign against the powers that be because they talk the talk but dont walk the walk.......

I am looking forward to the magor contribution you are going to make to the campagain.

If Joe Soap dosn't like some of the spokespeople on the No Side

then he/ she must step up to the block and fill the vacumn so as to make things

real for the more broad public

McKenna's comments at this meeting that NO political party was opposed to the Treaty was very disingenuous at the very least.

What was the idea of her saying that? Start a split in the NO camp before the campaign gets underway at all?

Yes, the Sinn Fein county councillor Sean Mac Manus walked out of the meeting when Patricia refused to correct what she had said. It got quite heated

Many citizens haven't decided how or whether to vote. Most voters don't attend hotel meetings. Some citizens can be persuaded to vote No by individuals who quietly put clinching points to them at the doorstep. The doorstep is where the referendum is going to be carried or lost. Put on yer dancing clogs and start doorstepping. Short informative leaflets should supplement the doorstepping.

499 E.U. Members voted against amendment to respect Irish NO Vote in Lisbon Treaty.

If any one believes that a yes vote would be better for Ireland they need their Head examined.

The Article below should clear the dilemma for the 'I don't knows'.

Plodder, you are absolutely correct this ref will only be won on the doorsteps and with well thought out concise leaflets. All the public meetings in the world won't win this one.
Hopefully all the orgs campaigning for a No vote realise this (I don’t think they do).

In fairness I would say that they do. Public meetings help to gain publicity etc in local media and can help to attract some people that may work in this campaign.

What is not needed is the sort of nonsense that Patricia was up to and using the platform to deny that any party is opposed to the Treaty when that is an outright lie. Is she saying this at all the meetings does anyone know?

Any chance someone could record this and upload it on indymedia?

would be valuable to the campaign and others in EUrope
