Call for Artists for Border Arts Centre
Ø Drama Practitioner/Joker in theatre of the Oppressed
Ø Filmmaker in Association
Both sought by the Border Arts Centre, which is based in Dundalk Institute of Technology, for a five-month period from November 2007 to May 2008.
The Border Arts Centre works primarily with using arts to engage people touched by conflict along the border area, using a model based on the Theatre of the Oppressed. Augusto Boal developed The Theatre of the Oppressed (TO) during the 1950s and 1960s, in an effort to transform theatre from the "monologue" of traditional performance into a "dialogue" between audience and stage. He experimented with many kinds of interactive theatre.
The Border Arts Centre engages with communities affected by conflict, such as traveller’s groups, minority Protestant groups, ex-prisoners and other disenfranchised groups along the border, through artistic interventions.
