An interview with Eddie Holt, former Irish Times columnist
With the dominant media becoming increasingly dependent on 'official' statements, often acting simply as a conduit for the 'official version', which tends to go unquestioned, it is those journalists that refuse to pacify reporting in order to appease 'elite interests' that we can turn to for critical analysis.
These voices are unfortunately becoming harder and harder to hear. Those that remain are regularly drowned out by official propaganda.
We interviewed Eddie Holt following his departure from the Irish Times in order to get an insight into how the dominant media perceives itself and it's growing threat, the alternative media.
"MB: While the existing media framework doesn't appear to have anything within it that is capable of correcting itself, do you see the new, alternative media offering some possibility there perhaps?
EH: There is a possibility, whether or not the alternative media can address a critical mass of people. That is the main question."
