Justin Trudeau wants to prorogue Parliament to buy time before the election. Voters will punish him for it, says Prof James Allan, but it's a mistake he must be allowed to make without activist judges getting in the way.

Jordan Peterson should make his mind up about Christianity, critics say. Prof James Alexander disagrees: he's a profound Jungian explorer who wants to help a secularised world see why Christianity still matters.

John Howard: Profile of a Coward

category international | anti-war / imperialism | other press author Wednesday February 14, 2007 12:29author by finch Report this post to the editors

The Australian Prime Minister, John Howard, has managed to gain some international attention after his hysterical attack on presidential candidate, Barack Obama. The seasoned Australian politician knowingly stated that a victory for Obama OR the Democrats would be a victory for al-Qaeda, “I mean, if I we're running al-Qaeda in Iraq, I would put a circle around March 2008 and pray as many times as possible for a victory not only for Obama but also for the Democrats”.

The Left - those politicians, academics, artists, journalists, activists, entertainers who are active in left wing politics - is in complete denial about the existence of an international conspiracy by Islamic fundementalist extremist individuals and extremist organisations, in the Middle East and hidden among the law abiding Muslim communities in many Western countries, to commit mass murder potentially with nuclear, chemical and biological weapons as well as more traditional terrorist methods such as kidnapping, bombing, hijacking etc. to destroy Western civilisation.
The Left initially questioned whether Bin Laden was behind the 9/11 attacks ( a significant lunatic minority believe that it was actually committed by the Bush administration) and opposed the invasion of Aghanistan and the toppling of the Taliban - and now cheer on the terrorists as the kill NATO troops and Afghan civilians.
The Left opposed the invasion of Iraq which toppled Saddam and now advocate cutting and running from the fight with Islamic extremists who seek to replace his regime with their own tyranny.
The Left opposes introducing laws to authorise the pursuit, capture interrogation and if need be the liquidation of terrorists and terrorist suspect in order to disrupt and foil their plots against innocent civilians in America, Europe, Iraq, Israel or elsewhere in the Middle East.
The Left either are de facto supporters of terrorism or actually support terrorism as they have done by supporting Palestinian terrorism against Israel for decades.

"denial about the existence of an international conspiracy by Islamic fundamentalist extremist individuals and extremist organisations...to destroy Western civilisation"

They are no doubt in denial, since you propose nothing more than a conspiracy of a conspiracy. If anything it is 'Western civilisation' that is going about the destruction of the 'Islamic World'.

"opposed the invasion of Afghanistan and the toppling of the Taliban"

And quite rightly. The Afghan people did not deserve to be punished in order for the US administration to feign retaliation.

"opposed the invasion of Iraq which toppled Saddam"

Again, quite rightly. The invasion of Iraq was illegal, and immoral. Over 650,000 Iraqis have been killed. Conditions are now worse than under the late despot Saddam.

"Islamic extremists who seek to replace his regime with their own tyranny"

The resistance is predominantly made up of Iraqis, they would not be considered Islamic extremists. And, pretending you are correct (though I doubt very much that you are) in your assumption that they intend tyranny, it would at least be an indepdent tyranny free from 'Western extremists'.

"opposes introducing laws to authorise the pursuit, capture interrogation and if need be the liquidation of terrorists and terrorist suspect in order to disrupt and foil their plots against innocent civilians"

You are correct, if you are referring to those laws that advocate torture, unjust imprisonment, racism and isolationism.

"The Left either are de facto supporters of terrorism or actually support terrorism as they have done by supporting Palestinian terrorism against Israel for decades"

Israel are responsible for far more deaths than the Palestinian people. They also illegally occupy another’s land, hold an entire population prisoner, continually reject UN resolutions and only last year illegally invaded a foreign country killing more than 1000 people.

Your analysis of 'the Left' is not far off the mark, and it appears they are quite right in their positions.

“I mean, if I we're running al-Qaeda in Iraq, I would put a circle around March 2008 and pray as many times as possible for a victory not only for Obama but also for the Democrats”.

Which just goes to show how thick yer man is, as if al-Qaeda in Iraq or elsewhere wish collectively for anything, other than nihilistic martyrdom, it's for another bellicose hard-line imperialist White House. Bush and bin Laden are blood brothers and have benefitted each other mightily.
