Permission soon for Shell's Rossport pipeline ?![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "It is understood the impact of the new act is that any pipeline from the shoreline to any terminal requires the sole permission of An Bord Pleanála" Following the preliminary decision of the Environmental Protection Agency to grant a licence to Shell for a gas terminal at Bellanaboy, now follows the news that Shell has sought what are termed 'pre-application discussions' under the new Strategic Infrastructure Act to clarify procedures for lodging an application : This Act came into force at the end of January and Shell lodged its application for talks just days later on 8 February and "it is understood the impact of the new act is that any pipeline from the shoreline to any terminal requires the sole permission of An Bord Pleanála" (RTE news) It is a (or almost) foregone conclusion that Shell will be given planning permission as Shell's fellow travellers in government have greased and paved its way with the SIA which drives a coach-and -four through democratic planning procedures and has the intention of putting the kybosh and Burdizzo on Shell to Sea and other groups with concerns other than the whores of Big Business in the bordello called Leinster House. |
