There will be a petition for the public to sign, asking the Retail Jewellers of Ireland to support the call for the definition of "conflict diamonds" as set out in the UN's Kimberley process to be amended so it no longer excludes trade in polished diamonds from conflict zones, such as Israel. The petition will also ask jewellers to make available certifiably Israel-free diamonds such as laser inscribed diamonds from countries that respect human rights, for consumers who do not wish to support the apartheid Israeli regime. |

Jump To Comment: 1Israel has no diamond mines. Those diamonds are just polished in Israel. So the fact that Israel is involved in a conflict does not matter.
