from Nigeria to Rossport - A Documentary

Tuesday 13th 7:00pm
The Kirwan Theatre, Main Hall of Arts Concourse Building
'To Hell or to Connaught', now Shell are taking the bog from under them
This is a neat documentary showing how life for the Ogoni people has been effected on the Niger Delta by the presence of Shell. this is compared with the life of people living off the land in Rossport, how they are struggling to resist. the threat of destruction of this way of life.

Scenes of shocking pollution and poverty will scare you into acting to protect the people of Mayo. Interviews with residents in Erris bring viewers closer to the meaning of the Corrib gas project for them. The disregard for the Ogoni people who could once live of the land and now are helpless as accidents destroy lives and pollute the region. Catching fresh fish to eat is a memory as people are forced to buy frozen goods. The land is being drained and poisoned at once. The documentary is environmentally and community focused, giving a real impetus for people learning about the issue to move in solidarity with the locals of Erris.

Human rights abuses are occurring frequently at Bellanaboy

The local people who protest are under constant threat of violence from the Gardai deployed by our government

Dia Duit,
This is my own art dedicated to the "Shell Out" cause. This is mostly my own work so don't take credit but use them to further the protest. Long live the resistance in Mayo.

More to come.
