Problems at the Triangle

The Dublin free-press which litters our buses has a headline
this morning about the mundane : Minister Mc Dowell is under
investigation for planning irregularities in relation to his constituency
offices in Ranelagh.

Most would know the offices. They are royal blue and just
downwind of the triangle in Ranelagh Village.

I say Mundane- as Tony Blair is under investigation for cash for honours,
but nothing as been proven. The sweeping political choices of these
men and their effect on ordinary people is not under-estimated- however
they are slowed down by mundane investigations.

This will be the second time that Mc Dowell has been investigated in
relation to planning, the first was with regard to his holiday home
in Rooskey, Co Roscommon. He won that one. The planning
authorities suggested that there was not sufficent permissions for the house
which he eventually built there.

The big planning question is in relation to the SIB and how Poolbeg
incinerator was left out of the SIB bill introduced on June 16th 06.

The paper carrying the 'paragraph' is the Dublin Metro- Mc Dowell's
offices had a 6 month display of the Luas project on his front window,
which is just ironic. The paper did not say anything other than an investigation
had been launched because the nature of the premises had changed
from 'retail' to constituency office.
I wonder if they are looking at Jim O Callaghan's office also?
