Tara - construction machinery moving in?

category national | environment | news report author Monday January 29, 2007 15:55author by Muireann Ni Bhrolchain - Save Tara Report this post to the editors

Are the starting on the road?

Message from the Vigil Camp at Tara.

,
I have just had a call from the Vigil camp. There are very few of them there at present. There is a rumour that the PPP was signed last week. Does anyone know if this is true?
The news is bad - there is a new, main, construction depot being set up on the Trim-Dunshaughlin Road, about 2 fields from Roestown and there are new contractors moving in. SIAC have been spotted.
There are 5 diggers, 7 dumpers and generators going in. They are laying gravel at the cul-de-sac at the back of Lismullin and there are new safety signs all over the place. They have closed and covered over some archaeological sites.
Looks like they are actually getting ready to build the actual road. There are working sites in this area still, the area of Lismullin/ Ardsallagh should have been monitored. This is really outrageous.
Has anyone locally seen or heard of construction traffic moving in elsewhere?
There is little doubt but that there is a deliberate attempt to push ahead so quickly that there will be no room for an alternative government to change the route (should such an alternative win an election). There is no reason to start in the Valley, the traffic problems are at Dunshaughlin.
Please contact the media and also your local TDs.
Muireann
