A one-day workshop in group harmony singing, chanting and vocal improvisation open to all. No solo singing, you don't have to be a 'good' singer to take part. This workshop will bring you on a musical tour from the Andes to Africa to America and will allow you to connect with, explore and experiment with your voice. Great fun, great creative flow and stress-release. Plenty of tips on breathing and vocal production. Facilitated by Rachel Dempsey, lead singer in Dublin Latin band ‘Candela’, ethnomusicology graduate and experienced voice work and global education facilitator. The day will be held in a beautiful space called Oscailt, a natural therapy centre in Ballsbridge. Great acoustics, a tranquil environment and plenty of beanbags & blankets!

To book, please send €30 deposit to Rachel Dempsey, 19b Orchard Terrace, Grangegorman Upper, Dublin 7. Please bring food to share for lunch.

Bolivia Project
This event is a fundraiser for Rachel Dempsey’s work in December with indigenous women in Bolivia though the social movement, ‘La Coordinadora de la Defensa del Agua y de la Vida’ (Co-ordination for the Defence of Water and Life). Rachel will be running voice workshops with the women, exploring the role of voice in daily ritual and how it can be used for personal and group transformation. As well as this she will interpreting for Judith Hoad, (herbalist and author amongst other amazing things!) who has been invited to help indigenous women to re-establish their traditional customs around pregnancy and birth by giving them skills to employ in a home-birthing system they are trying to establish. The money raised will contribute towards the transport, food and accommodation costs of running these workshops and for the purchase of supplies needed by the women’s groups.
