If Trump does half of what he's said he'll do on 'Day One', he's going to have a very busy day. It includes pardoning the Jan 6th defendants, slapping 25% tariffs on imported goods and kicking men out of women's sports.

Galway Shell to Sea girds its loins for Erris

category galway | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Friday October 13, 2006 22:10author by TD - Shell to Sea Report this post to the editors

This Janus-faced government of ours : A poodle when brown envelopes are involved & a Rottweiler when principle is on the front line?.

This evening, Galway Shell to Sea activists , our ranks augmented from the Socialist Party, Labour Youth and students from Germany picketed the Westside Shell Service Station in solidarity with our beleaguered brethern in Erris for an hour-and-a-half.

It's now almost pro forma to state that the reception from the vast swarth of passing motorists and trickle of pedestrians was sweet and heartening and so this evening was in tune with previous pickets as regards plaudits from strangers except there was more of a plethora of it than usual probably elicited by the unrelenting protests around the Shell site in Bellanaboy, Maura Harrington's injury this morning and the governments poodling-up to Big Oil whilst turning its contemptible Rottweiler face, in the shape of the Gardai, to/on the people of Erris?

Looks like ye got a great turnout, much better than last week. Did ye actually succeed in convincing people not to go into the station and were there many cars turning around, or was it just naturally quiet?

Sinn Féin's environment spokesperson for Dublin South East, Daithí Doolan has called on the Dublin city manager to explain the alleged fuel deal that Dublin City Council has with Shell Oil.

Speaking today from City Hall Cllr. Doolan said: "If true, it is unacceptable that any such deal exists.

"Last year Dublin City Council passed a motion expressing their support for the Rossport Five and against Shell's actions in Mayo.

This might make a great placard and Galway Shell to Sea have great artists. Could become a useful banner to display opinion of government. Please consider as it would be a useful tool nationally.
