Ógra Shinn Féin held an international youth in struggle weekend in Belfast last weekend (11th– 13th August). Ógra activists travelled from all over Ireland to be present at the weekend, while international comrades from Colombia, Catalonia, The Basque Country and the Socialist Labour Party Youth of Britian also travelled to take part in the weekend. Friday saw a panel discussion on the issue of ‘Youth Against Imperialism’ with Gerry Adams opening proceedings and inputs from Colombian, English, Irish, Catalan, and Basque Youth.

http://socialistenvironmentalalliance.org/cgi-bin/sea/a...ns.pl
Perhaps you'll now realise why Sinn Fein won't elaborate on it. Is this working for the people or on behalf of an Airline notorious for it's attempts to destroy the Unions?
I am not a SEA supporter but a former member of the Republican Movement Deceitfully transformed from a Revolutionary Movement by Adams and his lackeys into a Party no different to The SDLP or Fianna Fail.
Yes many died for the Struggle, Courageous Men and Women but to say that they died for a few seats in an Northern Ireland Parliament Presided over by Paisley or someone else in his party is either naivety at the lest or downright idiotic. This is acceptance of the Northern State for another generation, so how can Sinn Fein be a threat to that State when they wish to bolster it.
Sinn Fein are nothing more today than a replacement for the SDLP they will change nothing, NOTHING!
As for your question how do I expect to bring revolution to Ireland? I don't nor can anyone else because after 30 years of struggle Sinn Fein have ensured by their acceptance of the GFA that further attempts will be doomed to failure. Future generations will surely look at the struggles from 1916 to the present day and say "Why bother we'll die or be imprisoned, we'll kill and destory and what will the outcome be? The Politicians will take over and accept what is in their best interests.
Guttersnipe you truly are one of the disgruntled loony bin leftie, that gives Socialism a bad name, with your dogmatic crap. I don't know what happened in Derry, i hope a Derry Sinn Féiner would please come on and elaborate. But what i do know is that in terms of the national question, in terms of practical socialist struggle i.e community struggle and actually working for the people, Sinn Féin are the business, which has led to their enormous growth. They stand by the people, listen to the people and communicate on a grounded level, not talking crazy dogmatic lecturer type intellectual misguided shite.
But you are obviously a member of this SEA with the gallant Eamonn McCann as your leader, look the man can talk, but credibility, what has he evr done.
I know one thing Sinn Féin are the most effective revolutionary movement in Ireland - their activists and the army they supported showed that they were not just willing to talk about struggle, but to die for struggle.
That is why people stand by them.
And if ÓSF did answer you guttersnipe, you would only throw up some other thing that is not on topic.
If however we dwell on the SEA for a brief mo, and im a potential member and voter, how do you's ever expect to bring revolution to Ireland?
What is your ultimate objective? How will you achieve this?
Activity will always bring criticism - the SEA are probably not in for much criticism then.
You aren't really a threat to the state are you'se - you'se really are irrelevant - no!
I suppose that I was naive to believe that anyone from Ogra Shinn Fein would be permitted to answer my query about the evictions on Donnybrewer Road when the Parties on Derry City council refuse to release any information to the People of Derry themselves.
Ogra SF are young tell them anything and they'll believe it! I wonder do they know how Gerry Adams intends to establish a Republic from Stormont?
He might Nominate Paisley as Taoiseach.
Hope you're paying attention now OSF.
Republicans don't like you because you are not real republicans. Socialists don't like you because you are not true socialists.
It must be a lonely life you live, I would like to see a list of how many actual members you have.
Adam's path to Freedom has become a Cul-de-sac of continued Partition and Unionist misrule.
So Ogra Shinn Fein haven't the courage to come out and state that the eviction of 17 families at the behest of The anti-Union Ryan air is a disgraceful injustice.
Will they even condemn the Anti-Union policies of Ryan Air?
"OSF" are nothing more than a youth wing of an organisation that struggles desperately to share power with Loyalists with the blessing and ultimate approval of the British government over a section of Ireland.
That is simply and clearly : not revolutionary and not republican.
Stop using images of the '81 Hungerstrikers, of Connelly, of Guevara, et cetera... for your misguided, sickening propaganda. You are promoting nothing more than defeat, surrender and submission. You and your masters are not fooling any intelligent people.
Please, cease this incredibly false "activism" and read more about your country's history, read more about true Republicanism, learn from others' and your mistakes and act accordingly.
Did you notice the gaps appearing on the terraces when Gerry Adams got up to speak?
Could someone in Ogra Shinn Fein please tell me the difference between the Rossport 5 and the 17, yes 17 families in Donnybrewer Road. Are they not worthy of your support?
Here is some interesting reading on the subject of Derry City Council's forced evictions:
http://socialistenvironmentalalliance.org/cgi-bin/sea/a...ns.pl
Ná Fianna Éireann are the organisation that represent Republican Youth, not this new OSF outfit set up by gerry and co. in recent years.
Give the kids toys, well in this case paint and paper and it will entertain them for hours.........Good thinking gerry and co.
In a previous post, Sean Oglach admits that the IRA committed atrocities but seeks to justify this by saying that her Majesties Murderers (sic) and Loyalist serial killers also committed atrocities, as if that somehow makes it all right. Did it ever enter his tiny little brain that any organisation that commits atrocities is not worthy of support.
Firstly, I would like to congratulate ÓSF for organising this international youth in struggle event in solidarity with other youngsters in Colombia, Catalonia and the Basque country. Any solidarity shown to these youngsters in these countries has to be praised.
While ÓSF have been very active in the six counties in highlighting the plight of the Lebanese and Iraqi people and other issues, and I applaud this work, they are not that active in the 26 counties and, indeed, Anarchist Youth are by far the most active and effective youth movement in Dublin and are regarded as unquestionably genuine.
People do doubt the sincerity of ÓSF in the 26 counties, because their parent has being lead astray and has become dazed and confused by the trappings and rewards of British imperialism and US capitalism and contradict themselves on so many issues. Examples of gross contradictions:
(i) fadó, fadó, senior members of your party fought British imperialism oppression admirably in the six counties and then, incredulously, decided to sign-up and join it, and are now begging to run it, alongside right wing crazed bigot Paisley (Minister of the Orange Silly Walks Party - admired by the KKK), while on the other hand condemning all this right wing bigot stands for;
(ii) your parent party love to be seen on tv shaking the hand and 'kissing the ass' of President Bush and praising him for his good work while they are in the US, whilst back in Ireland your parent party's members attend all meetings denouncing him and the US regime's actions and actively support protests against its occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan - leaving on-lookers dazed and confused.
Whilst there are some very talented and genuine (though pityingly misguided and unfortunate) people in your parent party, I personally find it hard to trust or believe anything that comes forth from your party of contradictions.
The anti Union Ryan air wants a bigger runway so they enlist the support of Derry City Council, Sinn Fein, the SDLP and the DUP to remove those living in their way. They are forced to sell their homes but are also told that in the meantime they must pay rent to Derry City Council while they search for new homes. So much for standing up for the rights of the common people.
Wait until they get into Government!
that their (OSF) 'activity' is not really activity at all. Its mere publicity seeking.
Could the youth wings on here please stop worrying about who's bigger than who. It's obvious from the activity of Ógra Shinn Féin, that many of the posters on here, obviously members of other youth organisations are in some way worried or feeling inferior, and are resorting to
"I'm more active than you etc"
Stop acting like children, ÓSF should be commended for their good work, likewise Labour Youth, Socialist Youth, Anarchist Youth etc should all be commended. The Youth should be building broad based support amongst eachother not attacking one another.
Strange though it seems ÓSF are the only people not attacking others for their activity.

Sinn Féin made our position clear, we supported it!

"Where are the OSF members supporting raytheon/baldonnel/ploughshares prisoners?"
We support the prisoners, and we will assist in whatever means we can. We believe in protecting Ireland's neutrality and saving the lives of those bombarded by bombs from Raytheon and Shannon. We also believe in demilitarising Ireland north and south. An issue which many on the left often forget and are not or never where active on - Demilitarising the British War Machine in Ireland. We have campaigned very strongly on this, we are consistent in our anti - imperialist message. Imperialism out of Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon and Ireland.

"I'm quite sick of OSF using these smoke and mirrors tactics on indymedia to pretend they have any support at all."
I'm 'quite' sorry if we are making you sick for posting up news of our events, sorry for being active??
We are a new youth movement undergoing a massive growth, infact the fastest growing youth movement in Ireland, we have a new re vitalised press department, and have now begun to publicise some of our activity.
We are active on many issues, alot more than the very important issues you mentioned above.
This year we also campaigned on Suicide Prevention, Smash Political Policing, Demilitarisation, Health Care, International Solidarity etc.
http://www.indymedia.ie/article/72138
http://www.indymedia.ie/article/68953
And on top of all our campaigns the majority of our activists are involved in trade unions, community activism, the GAA amongst other organisations, bringing a republican socialist perpective to all these various organisations.
We are a youth movement, organising for radical revolutionary change in Ireland, of course we aren't as active as we would like to be, we will never become complacent, but ÓSF is in a new stage of development and will continue to mobilise, campaign, recruiting more activists to carry out the important task ahead.
We welcome constructive criticism, but for the guttersnipes who don't leave a name, and who we don't know which organisation they belong to, if you don't like what ÓSF post on indymedia, then don't read it, where not forcing you to.

The following groups are more active in Dublin than OSF,
Labour Youth, Socialist Youth, Anarchist Youth.
OSF you are not fooling anyone at all, cop on.
I'm getting sick and tired of people on Indymedia saying "ÓSF arn't doing this and that and every other thing"
Most people recognise that ÓSF is by far THE most active youth wing of any party or any other youth organisation. You want to see them taking on an issue, they're probably planning something to do with it already. From what I see, ÓSF are the only active political wing of any party in Ireland, when you compare the amount of things they do to any of the others, you can be quite amazed. Unlike the likes of ÓFF or YFG, they're not in shining the boots of party leaders or making the tea for the local cumann so that they are in with the in crowd in the future to line their own pockets, no they're on the streets making a protest, on the roof tops droping a banner or in town centres raising an issue.
As for this notion of "they only do things because there will be media coverage" have you ever thought maybe the media reports on things they do because the things they do interest the people, or maybe...just maybe, ÓSF have a good publicity department?
The belief that "they only do things because the other political parties do it first" yeah that makes sense, thats why in April when they stormed the auction room, they had to fight off Labour Youth before entering the room, or when they went into the first ever private health care conference they just stole the thunder of socialist workers party.
Its all too easy to sit in front of a computer and type everything that you type here, its another thing to organise events like that of what ÓSF organise, anyone who has tried to organise anything half the size of this event would know all too well.
Starstruck wrote:"Issues like Rossport and Shannon are campaigned upon fervently by Sinn Fein senior". This is untrue. The provos get involved when 1) there will be media coverage and 2) every other political organisation is involved so they have to.
Unfortunately, when rallies are held, like the recent anti-war one , groups that have been involved in protesting the illegal Iraqi war from DAY ONE, are pushed aside by organiser in order to accomadate the provos.
From the volume of posts on Indy and the level of activity clearly being undertaken by OSF,someone needs to answer the questions posed above
Issues like Rossport and Shannon are campaigned upon fervently by Sinn Fein senior, why is the youth wing, who have displayed a willingness and capability to carry off good direct actions, not involved to a visible extent also?
In less than 100 words...
OK Me who is to blame for the latest atrocity? What is the latest atrocity as you leave me confused with your garbled typing?
Where are the OSF members in Rossport?
Where are the OSF members when it's time to tackle Shannon?
Where were the OSF members when the Orange Order marched down O Connell st?
Where are the OSF members supporting raytheon/baldonnel/ploughshares prisoners?
Where are the OSF members on trade union marches?
I'm guite sick of OSF using these smoke and mirrors tactics on indymedia to pretend they have any support at all.
"OK the IRA did commit atrocities but what about..." What about nothing.
There is no group that has never done anything wrong, therefore this logic can be used to justify anything. Holocaust? OK, but whatabout usury? West Bank? OK, but whatabout Holocaust? 9/11? OK, but whatabout West Bank?
This is the argument of someone who's only concern for the latest atrocity is to make sure it is blamed on someone else.
The old IRA Victims again. OK the IRA did commit atrocities but what about her Majesties Murderers and the Loyalist serial killers?
I'm tired of the same old crap; the IRA killed everyone!
I hope the ÓSF recruits were brought on a truly thorough visit to the graves of all IRA victims. I suspect this is not the case, otherwise they'd still be touring the graveyards and graves since the Roll of Honour of IRA victims is much bigger than that of the IRA's fallen.
Ogra and their damn holiday snaps "here's wee Johnny with uncle Gerry" "Here's Strabane ogra doing Sinn Fein things"
In the words of the song, 'Busy doing nothing.'
