Ansbacher: The main players![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A list of the main players in *one* of the tangled webs which is unravelling Ansbacher (Cayman) Ltd: A Cayman Islands bank formerly known as Guinness Mahon Cayman Trust (GMCT). Guinness & Mahon: An Irish merchant bank with an address on College Green, Dublin. Now owned by Permanent TSB. CRH plc: Cement Roadstone Holdings, a major Irish public company. Desmond Traynor: Former director of CRH and Guinness &Mahon and founder chairman of GMCT. Hamilton Ross Co Ltd: A Cayman Islands company owned by Ansbacher (Cayman) Ltd and used to hold funds belonging to a number of clients, including Mr Charles Haughey. Padraig Collery: A Dublin-based banker and computer expert who assisted Mr Traynor in the Ansbacher operation in Dublin. Joan Williams: Long time secretary to Des Traynor who helped run the Irish Ansbacher operation. John Collins: A Cayman Islands banker and one of the early directors of GMCT. IIB: IIB Bank, formerly Irish Intercontinental Bank. Mr Traynor placed the Ansbacher Deposits in IIB Bank after he moved them from Guinness & Mahon in the early 1990s. John Furze: A Cayman Islands banker and one of the early directors of GMCT. Guinness Mahon & Co Ltd: The former London parent of Guinness & Mahon. Investec Bank (UK) Ltd: Current owners of Guinness Mahon & Co, London. Henry Ansbacher Holdings plc: Current parent of Ansbacher (Cayman) Ltd, formerly GMCT, which it bought in 1988. Sam Field-Corbett: Former employee of Haughey Boland who set up his own company, Management Investment Services. Following Mr Traynor's death in 1994 Mr Field-Corbett's offices were used to store documents connected with the Ansbacher Deposits. First National Bank of Southern Africa: Bought the Henry Ansbacher group in 1993. Bank of Ireland Private Banking Ltd: Arm of the Bank of Ireland which looks after accounts of high net worth individuals. Jack Stakelum: Another former Haughey Boland employee. After he went into business on his own he placed some clients' funds with Ansbacher through Mr Traynor. |
