We do exist you know!!!!!
Yes and more than a day's notice would be nice, too!
We know that people exist outside Dublin and IMC organisation is less than stellar at the moment hence the meeting.
One of my hopes of what will come of this meeting is that we'll have a regular meeting structure set up
Secondly we need you to get involved let us know where you are and how you want to get involved. We're not telepathic, most of us live in Dublin, and we can't all decamp to Carlow in the vain hope some locals will turn up. You need to be heard in the organisational side of Indymedia.
So join the list

We've been discussing this meeting on the organisational list for the last two weeks. Yes we're aware that there should have been better promoted but, we've been having problems.
And make yourself heard.
As Aidan mentions, the meeting has been bounced around for the last couple of weeks - the link is the original call for a meeting, on the newswire (which becomes an interesting discussion on accountability / traceability).
On local groups - if anybody thinks they can have a meeting outside Dublin, give a shout and I'll try and support along with other members of the collective. Someone can attend or we can answer any questions via email etc. If you look at the experience with uk.indymedia.org, groups have now started around the country and they are in the process of starting new IMC's and contributing local material to the main ones (Bristol was the first new group).
Indymedia is local, so the best place to organise is locally - indymedia.ie will do it's best to support technically etc. and provide space for local news on the main site. We are also hoping to have a more open manner of building the site which should enable other groups to contribute more than just newswire. My personal opinion is that the group meeting in Dublin should become the dublin.indymedia.ie collective as soon as we have a couple of other groups in existence.
I don't live in Carlow and I don't appreciate smartass cracks in reponse to my comment.
Note to self, leave sense of humour, irony, and sarcasm at home when posting on the newswire.
It was a joke Oliver not meant to be taken as an insult and if any offense was taken I do apologise.
But this is difficult for us, how are we supposed to know where people are and if they want to participate if you're not taking an active part on the e-mail lists.
C is always much better at explaining this things than me, so read his post. And please get involved.

No offence taken, I was joking too. We have never met but we do have something in common, a sense of humour. For various reasons, it is impossible for me to attend meetings outside Limerick, but it something was organised locally I certainly show up.
BTW I am a registered culchie (left wing und non SWP).
