Fianna Fail & GAAW Easter Commemorations To Coincide

category galway | anti-war / imperialism | news report author Wednesday April 12, 2006 18:58author by Niall Farrell - Galway Alliance Against War Report this post to the editors

It has been brought to the attention of the Galway Alliance Against War that the local Fianna Fail cumann is due to hold its Easter Commemoration after 12 o’clock mass at Liam Mellowes statue. Our commemoration - the main speaker at which will be the brother of a Guantanamo internee - begins at 12.30pm at the same statue. This means the two commemorations will probably coincide.

We would suggest that the Fianna Fail members delay their departure from the church – use the time to examine their consciences. They have much to consider: their party’s complicity in the deaths of over 100,000 Iraqis; their party’s complicity in the kidnapping and torture of prisoners; their party’s support for Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian lands; their party’s role in turning Shannon airport into a logistical hub for the US armed forces; their party’s role in destroying Irish neutrality. If they take time to genuinely examine their consciences after mass, then surely they will realise that the ideals of the men and women of 1916 have nothing in common with the ideals of today’s Fianna Fail and there is no need for them to commemorate the Easter Rising anymore.

So Today I see that new terrorism laws have come into place in England. Which states one can no longer Glorify terrorism. A while back I read an article about a new Irish film to be released about the 1916 rising, and its goina be banned in England as it glorifys terrorism. They really dont have a clue! Do they not see themselves as terrorists when they look back in history?? No they probably just see themselves as civilizing savage lands for the good of the people. If mankind wants to make progress we need to cleary state who the real terrorists are, eg:- USA, England, Israel and others... These terrorist states are a plague on this earth!!!

Why don't ye just let them have their commeration and then you have yours .....simple.

You're not getting your point across by getting up another groups back.

Doesn't this site advocate Free Speech for all, then it's time to let everyone have their say, just because you don't agree with what is being said doesn't mean they haven't the right to say it.
