Justice for Terence Wheelock Protest at the Dail
2pm Thursday 23rd March

The Wheelock family have organised a protest at the Dail on what would have been Terence's 21st birthday.
The family are calling for as many people as possible to support this protest.
The family intend to present a 21st birthday key of the door to members of the Dail to highlight the fact that Terence cannot accept the key and the family still don't know what happened on the night Terence suffered the injuries in police custody which resulted in his death.

MURDER?

Terence Wheelock, a 20 year old young man from north inner city Dublin, died on the 16th September from injuries received in Garda custody. Terence was arrested with three others on suspicion of stealing a car and taken to Store St Garda station. Two hours later he was found unconscious in his cell.
Gardai claim that he tried to hang himself but his family say that he wouldn’t have committed suicide and he had an alibi accounting for his movements at the time the car was stolen. A senior Garda who spent 15 years working in Store Street station has been appointed to conduct an internal inquiry into the circumstances of Terence’s death. The family have no faith
in such an enquiry. They are calling for an Independent Public Enquiry into Terence’s death. If the Gardai and the Minister for Justice have nothing to hide why will they not agree to this Independent Public Enquiry?

WHY?

• Why was the cell where Terence died renovated before his legal team could inspect it?
• Why will the Garda not give his solicitor access to his clothes?
• Why did Terence have a cut and bruising on his body?
• Why will the Garda not give his solicitor access to the internal Garda report?
• Why haven’t his legal team had access to the post-mortem report?
• Why does his legal team have to go to the High Court to get access to all of the above?

Anybody who sees police harassment as a problem in our society should support this campaign. The evidence of police abuse in this case is overwhelming, that why they are trying to brush it all under the carpet.

THE family of terence wheelock and john maloney protested outside the dail yesterday 23rd.
it was very successful with about a 150 people attending friends families and neighbours attending.
it was apeaceful and dignified protest joe costelloe excepted apetition from the familys calling for an independent inquirie. and T.D tony gregory excepted a 166 letters of petition written to all T.DS calling for this inquirie.
it was covered by a lot of media paul reynolds RTE crime correspondent interveiwed Brother larry wheelock, but this was not shown on RTE larry had some hardhitting answers to paul reynolds awkward questions. and aparrently made reynolds look foolish. with his probing questions like why dont you except the gardia's findings.
but all in all the the wheelocks and maloneys were very dignified and are now a mobilised force thaks to their persuit for truth an justice.other family should come forward to other strange deaths in the past in garda custody. they should unify under a common umbrella and be a force to reakon with.
they should follow the wheelocks and maloneys examples.
if it were middle class families they would not be ignored as the wheelocks and maloneys have.
support this campaign.
concerned citizen.

I would like to take this oppertunity to thank all our suporters and well wishers that turned out in thier large numbers to suuport our campaign for justice and truth. As alot of you may know our campaign has been ongoing since last september, like i said yesterday outside Dail eireann there have been many unanswered questions that have arisen as a result of Terence's Death, that is why we staged yesterdays protest to call on Michael Mcdowell to establish and independent public enquiry aswell marking Terence's 21st birthday. Our campaign has been staged with dignity and was a peacefull affair and that is credit to all of you that came out to support us yesterday.Once again a big thank you to all who supported our campaign and we will be greatfull for your support in future campaigns in our quest for truth and justice.I will keep you informed of our future demonstrations thank you on behalf of my family and indeed my late brother Terence.

I would like to refer to the out come of the inquestof the late terence wheelock that had been up for mention on the 6th of april last. Firstly i think it was disgusting that the minister for justice renaged on his commitment for the funding to pay for forensic experts to travel from england to independently examine the clothes worn by terence on the day he was arrested. The clothes and other personal effects had been taken by the investigating gardi under the guise of them been examined with the possibility of criminal charges to follow. We now know that the family had been duped to hand over the clothes and are having a very difficult time trying to have them returnde by means of a police property act.the wheelock family have no axe to grind here but it now appears the the gardi are afraid of the family gatting back what is rightly thiers (ie) the clothes. The longer they haven't got the clothes the more likely they are to be forensicly damaged as terences brother so eloquently explained on TV three news. What is going on here?We have had 23 deaths in Garda custody since 1997 4 of these deaths were in store street since 03.here we have a brand new garda station the the gardi prid them selves on been suicide proof and now a couple of years down the linewhen we have elderly people lying on trolies fior days in hospitals around the country children having to use outside toilets in thier schools and theese people can renovate a brand new station over a weekend i have to ask myself what do these have to hide. the more i look at this case the more convinced that there ins something inherently wrong. All i can say now to you that are reading this is support this family's peaceful and dignified campaign for justice
