no its not a SWP front. at last months demo the majority of people were not SWP. it would help if rory or someone else were to post contact details for the campaign.
If we have to remain as a pressure group for a fundamental human liberty such as advertising issues of public concern after next Monday's council meeting, we will develop a formal structure. Do check out
for a temporary site of info -www.billposterdublin.blogspot.com. Some of us have been working away behind the scenes on this and if the top suits in D.C.C. continue their policy we have some novel and mind focussing devices to deploy. Many of us have no political affilliation, we are you might say very concerned citizens who take umbridge at such a rudimentary fundamental of what passess for Democracy beig discarded by unelected officials.
A Scottish bard comes to mind " Farewell to the heather and the glen, they cleared us of once and they'd do it all again, well they'd still prefer sheep to thinking men, ah but men who think like sheep are even better...." ( P.S Got it from a good source, water charges are lined up for 2008 )
The campaigns webspace has more details of the ban and the legality of the situation.
So much for your concern about the environment. The proliferation of posters on every wall, signpost, public building etc is nothing more than litter. They are an eyesore and the authorities are quite right to ban them. Its the same with graffitti. The facades of many beautiful buildings are completely ruined by hideous graffitti. Ninety-nine per cent of this graffitti is of the cretinous left-wing type. You don't see the walls of buildings dubbed with slogans such as 'vote fianna fail', 'f**k Castro' or portraits of Mary Harney. Supporters of mainstream parties have more respect for public buildings and for the environment generally. They even dubbed the statute of Connolly (or, was it Larkin?, all these leftists look the same to me) in O'Connell Street with moronic graffitti. Its not just in Dublin. I was in Florence last May and all the beautiful buildings are covered with graffitti, almost all of it from leftists, greens and anti-capitalists of one type or another.
