Jump To Comment: 1 2There is something in the Irish psyche which loves a political reverend I've always thought at least. We've been divided into armies and led up that miserable hill so many time by a "rev." But certainly we appear to be more interested in Rev. Robertson than for example Rev. Paisley. Between the regular contributors to "other press" here's the "robertson stuff":-
* US Man of God calls for assasination of Chavez

*(the Xian influence on Bush)
The first national prayer day for Houricane Katrina in the USA

*Evangelist says voters reject God
(Robertson warns Dover, Pennsylvania of damnation over the evolution thing)

*Robertson endorses God's Assassination of Ariel Sharon

************************************************
& to compare and contrast, here's a local reverend from Ulster who in November decided Huricane Katrina was God's smoting for the "Southern Decadence Festival" which in 2004 had attracted an estimated 125,000 people to New Orleans
*Ulster Councillor says Hurricane Katrina was God's "Anti Gay Punishment"

& finally to put all this in a cultural context, (because quite honestly it doesn't fit in a political context unless you analyse the Ulster stuff, _which we don't do_ [coz of that intellectual sloppiness and prejudice]
many Irish people as others listen annualy to Handel's messiah, which was first performed in Dublin as an "Xmas tradition". Here are the first four lines of that oratorio.
"Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned:
The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain"
:-) + bless you all 4 ye generally don't know what ye're doing.
He's dead. I would have though there would be obits.
It would help if u read the article!
