Friday August 19, 2005 01:07 by Eve - Shell to Sea Dundalk
Picket Statoil on Dublin road (opposite the hospital) Friday 26th August from 5pm-7pm. A picket in solidarity with the Rossport 5 will take place at the Statoil garage on the Dublin road, opposite the hospital, on Friday the 26th of August from 5-7pm. The picket is part of a nation wide day of pickets at Statoil stations and is being organised by Shell to Sea Dundalk. Shell to Sea are calling for the people of Dundalk to join in the picket and to show their solidarity with the jailed Mayo farmers. According to a spokes person for the group the picket is aimed at “highlighting the struggle faced by the Rossport five, their families and community against the oil and gas giant.” As well as “highlighting the way in which Irelands oil and gas reserves have been given away to oil companies by successive corrupt politicians underlined by the fact that while the people of Ireland own 0% of the Corrib gas field the people of Norway, own 25%.” All are welcome. |
