The horror of the McBrearty, Rossiter & Robocop cases aside, these Ban Gardai, with their sweet affability renews one faith in the Guards - more of 'em, for fuck's sake.
Chutzpah ! : Unable to get near Fianna Fail's Ballybrit Corruption Tent, we had to opt for second best ; a quite sneck up the stairs to the Radisson Hotel's Corruption Tent, Mark 2.
A red letter, if not a blue, day for the Shell to Sea activists.
Shell, Behold the Pale Rider on the blue horse - Hallelujah !. Apocalypse soon for yez 'n all ye'er dirty works.
ition !
The Silver Guardian Angel, as it were, of the Rossport Five whispering encouragement and a "Well Done" to gentle Fran.
Tommy your comments on the women guards and other women are a bit OTT. Zip up mate.
I am truly pleased with the dedication ot coverage of events.
However it does call for sensitivity to the men in prison and the quality of discourse that they would wish to be associated with. Their wives and children also depend for support on these reports so we would wish to be sensitive to them as well.
This is a very serious case and the focus is on the harshness of the dilemma facing the families and the community at Rossport.
I also depend on this source and look forward to serious and sometimes respectfully funny remarks but not to anything that would be embarrasing for the families to be associated with.
Great work Galway!
And will the rest of ye lighten up! It's a serious business but there's no harm in having a sense of humour either.
You don't speak for us, sweetheart, ok !.
Ar mo bhealach fríd Ghaelatacht Dhún na nGall inné (29/7/05) chonaic mé agóid mhór (suas le 30 duine) taobh amuigh den Chrannóg ar na Doirí Beaga, áit a raibh Aire na Gaelatachta, Éamonn Ó Cuív ag foscailt chúpla oifig do eagraíochtaí pobail. Sheas mé leo ar fead leathuaire agus bhí an chraic go h-iontach! D'iarr mé orthu na grianghrafanna a chur chuig Indymedia, chomh maith le tuairisc ar imeachtaí an lae. Tá sé cineál suarach nár dhúirt an tAire Ó Cuív rud ar bith faoin 5, arb as an Ghaeltacht iad.
56 jobs to be lost at Corrib gas pipeline
July 29, 2005 22:11
The petroleum giant Shell has announced that it is to lay off a further 56 workers at the Corrib gas pipeline in Co Mayo.
Last Tuesday, 35 people were made redundant at the plant.
The company said it regretted the decision, which was made as a result of the on-going protests that are taking place at its site in the county.
The protests have brought work to a standstill on the gas refinery site at Bellanaboy and at three other locations.
The workers who lost their jobs were employed by the engineering subcontracting firm SICAM-Roadbridge.
Five Co Mayo landowners remain in prison for contempt of court in relation to their obstruction of the Shell Corrib gas pipeline.
Protestors say they are still totally opposed to the location of the €300 million terminal at the site and believe the gas should be refined at sea.
Shell have figured out that Dempsey and Mayo County Council have both found them to be carrying on illegal construction and installing illegal septic tanks etc
Has it finally dawned on Shell that they cant just do anything they want and that perhaps they might need to slow down their progress and try doing things legally for a change?
They are trying to discredit the protesters by laying off all these people and pointing the finger at them implying "look its all your fault these people are loosing their jobs"
When in fact all the protestors have done is to point out all the illegal development and pollution Shell is involved in.
Its another victory for the Rossport 5 and their supporters
