A Day of Infamy Sun Mar 23, 2025 09:00 | Toby Young
Five years ago today, a supposedly freedom-loving government, led by a libertarian conservative, oversaw the greatest interference in our liberty in the history of these islands. Why? How? What were they thinking?

How the Rainbow Dildo Butt-Monkey Came to Symbolise Modern Britain Sun Mar 23, 2025 07:00 | Steven Tucker
What possessed a London library to invite a man dressed as a 'rainbow dildo butt-monkey' to read books to four year-olds? Steven Tucker isn't sure, but the fact that the area is 31% Muslim sums up modern Britain.

Tony O'Reilly's sunday rag was worse again. The only mention of the protests was a typically unsourced and unsubstantiated attack on the protestors for unverifiable acts of intimidation and threats against shell and statoil workers. Much of it was lifted straight from Shell's PR department with suitably vague allegations against the protestors. Of course no names are mentioned and no charges have been pressed. A pile of steaming turd from O'Reilly's pet hacks (washed up drink sodden poodles who have sold their dignity so long ago that they don't even remember having any).
The criminal government minister who sold Shell this countrys resources was Ray Burke . He sold them in a behind closed doors shady arrangement . Ray Burke is a convicted criminal who was sent to jail for criminal corruption . Is that not proof of criminality ?
Dont always agree with you Barry but on this occasion, very well said.
'Burke is a convicted criminal who was sent to jail for criminal corruption . Is that not proof of criminality ?'
Don't ever agree with you Barry, and this is no different.
Ray Burke was convicted of tax evasion not corruption.
Get it. Got it? Good.
So tax evasion is neither a criminal offence nor an act of corruption ? Very strange that one would get sent to jail for it then .
Why was Ray Burke accepting this money in brown envelopes which he was not declaring to the tax man again ?
Dont get it or you at all Noel . Ray Burke neither corrupt or a convicted criminal ?
It certainly is proof, wasn't aware Burke was involved. From the way the article was written it appeared that they were accusing someone as they never named Burke.
Seems to be a concentrated effort by all of Ireland's mass media to ignore this issue, very strange since it's silly season
Michael Lowry , another disgraced politician was up to his neck in this as well . He was selling the licences to enterprise oil for a pittance to none other than Denis Thatcher , Maggies husband .
And we all know that the Thatchers would never plot to steal another countries oil and gas resources . Unless they were Africans or some other lesser breed of human of course .
There is no mystery as to why the O'Reilly rags and most of the rest of the media are either ignoring this or acting as spindoctors for Shell (RTE have been disgraceful - Davin Power sounded like the Shell PR man last week).
This issue goes to the heart of the rotteness of the 26 county state. Burke and others have been proven to have been corrupt in the matters of housing developments and so on. The amount of money involved in that is miniscule compared to the value of the exploration licences under the terms granted by Burke and others.
We can only draw our conclusions therefore as to what he and others might have gotten in return for their criminal act. Not just Burke but others including a certain former Minister for Finance who is still, how might I put it... "prominent"?
