Rossport Five : further support from Galway Green Party activists.

category galway | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Friday July 15, 2005 21:20author by Tommy Donnellan - Shell to Sea Report this post to the editors

No slackening of support for the R5 in Galway !.

Green Party, Galway City Councillor, Neill O' Brolchain and GP activist, Kieran Cunnane, at the request of the Galway section of the Shell to Sea campaign, with sweet alacrity and enthusiasm,
From L to R : Niamh, Ferdia, baby Cianan, Neill O'Brolchain and Kieran Cunnane.

leafleted pedestrians today in Shop St on the unacceptable situation in Erris and the continued incarceration of the Rossport Five, unfortunately, today's stint on the street was short and sweet due to an inordinate and unforseen delay in getting the info flyers printed. More protests are planned for next week.

Lets see what the Greens do on such issues if/when in government with Fine Gael and Labour. It's very easy for them to support this campaign when looking for support but it must be remembered that Greens have no intention on challenging corporate profits when in power. For example the support bin tax and hence the privatisation ideology behind that. I didn't see an Greens oppose the jailings of 22 anti-bin tax activists in 2003.

"coolit," Indymedia had 42 hours, with or without any prompting from me to excise the offensive comments in question - sufficient time, I would say to do the right thing?. whether this lamentable lapse is due to the Ed's sleeping on the job or whether Richardson's bilge fulfills their imperative of fair comment, I cannot vouch - hopefully, the former, the plot thickens, as they say. Rest assured there will be further "crowing" from me if Ralphie's knife in my back isn't surgically removed by Indymedia.

I clicked on the wrong Author Name and didn't suss it before posting - "Tommy Donnellan on behalf of Billy Cameron" is from a previous Indymedia posting. Sorry about that Billy.

Tommy contrary to what you may believe the editors do actually sleep sometimes often don't work on Sundays and contrary to some others' opinion they are human.

And they do not get paid, either - all volunteer.

Looks like what you are complaining about is gone now. I didn't see an email sent from you or others posted to the indy mailing list, that could have helped - or rather, you could have helped.

all else regarding bilge, knives and ralphie - I haven't a clue what you are talking about, sorry.

No problem, "redjade" with Indymedia's Ed's having their sleep, provided it's not of 42 hours duration whilst on the job - "Ralph Richardson" (Ralphie) posted his/her bilge on Friday at 9.19 PM and wasn't sluiced away until this afternoon. As the right thing was done in the end, I don't want to give a hard time to Indymedia for the sake of it, so, let's, without being smartass, put the matter to rest, shall we?.
