Jump To Comment: 1 2 3 4The Irish people have showed their interest and support through petition and solidarity signing all over the country for the Rossport 5.
Please consider a public show of bringing them to the gates of Government in Dublin.
What about a horse trailer covered by the message and carrying bags of petitions from different parts of the country in phased stages by county?
With advance notice to local radio stations the petition carrier could stop at towns and crossroads to offer a further opportunity to local communities who are already grateful for giving them a chance to participate and appreciate the efforts of any leadership and facilitation of their voice in this issue.
Lead the way!
I would join, but I feel like Sinn Fein are hijacking the entire protest to raise their own profile.
If this is really indy media, why let a group of unrepntant murderers use this as a platform to electioneer??
I notice that the mention of Shell to Sea/Shinners name always comes before the Rossport 5.
This is what you call market branding.
This link, between Sinn Fein and the protest will cost a lot of supporters to shy away and ensure Shells victory.
Better Shell than Sinn Fein, Shell have murdered less innocent people.

First there's a lot of people that don't agree with your assesment of SF being "unrepentant murderers"; second the idea that even those that do are going to callously turn their backs on the people of Mayo instead of becoming _more_ involved to stop the "branding" of this as a SF campaign is unconvincing.
If people of other political persuasions than SF are concerned about the campaign then they should put as much effort and resources into it.
So far the prominent protests have involved Dissent! Ireland blockading the Irish Consulate in Edinburgh with anarchist clowns; the blockading of Statoil stations by the Irish Socialist Network including very active members of the Anti-Bin-Tax Campaign, the complete blockade of a Shelll depot in Cork (twice) by a variety of activists including an anarchist WSM member and press releases from the Socialist Party, Labour Party and DCTU, a picket involving SWP members and others and above all a huge number of ordinary people and immigrant workers protesting.
Fair play to all of the above for doing something. Only someone trying to split SF from this progressive campaign and the effective tactics of blockades initiated in Dublin by Ogra SF would be making the point that you are.
The public are grown up enough to decide if they want to cut off the nose of Mayo people to spite Sinn Fein's face.
Now, if you want to argue that petitions are a useless waste of activist energy as opposed to blockades, then I'll grant you that.
Thank God someone is doing something! Do you honestly believe that Shell have not caused deaths?
