belfast weekend of dissent- fnb 25 year aniversary
food table on the belfast big bike
big bike as sound machine and all round play machine
punk picnic
stephenie, chloe, spiderman, dunk (g8 will be destroyed)
from food not bombs we head back on the big bike and other colored bikes back to the workshops; a super super space in belfast, a nucleus of many different networks
http://directory.visitsouthbelfast.com/LawrenceStreetWorkshops/
then we went for a swifty and a fine chat about everything really, a few of us still had painted faces.
back to the workshops, little food, little drink, lot of laughing.
then later, a mini screening of bloomer and keoghs video "apackabalex now"; plenty of laughs, i felt one of the strongest things up in belfast is the fact that there is so much laughing, messing, playing, acting the bolix- the way it should be, i feel we here in dublin can learn a lot from the north.
we also saw the (in)famous vacuum mags that mr bloomer is involved in
http://www.thevacuum.org.uk/index.html
and we learned about saying SORRY.
issues are sent down to project and maybe some will make their way up to the warehouse?
you thought the slate was good, check this out
sun morning:
up, wander about the town, most of which is closed due to it being the holy day
then an audio piece with dutch girl ester who has been in belfast for a year or 2 and who is loving her job working with the homeless in belfast talks about life in the city, why she came over, how she finds it as an outsider.
lots of laughter seems to be the key to enjoying life here.
audio article (@27min):

back up to the garden, where the camera battery died and i had forgotten cable- always a donkey...........
anyway, the garden rocked
we had a soil ceremony where dublin community garden earth was mixed with the belfast soil, lovely day, lovely people, lots of babies about, healthy scene
we look foreward to being able to return the favour.
11 years olds carrying out art action on the streets of belfast
apackobalyx now
the lagan, belfasts river
lots of state funded art @ the lagan edge
talking and laughing in a garden
from idle wondering in the garden an idea was born in the garden to make a CPUL (continous productive urban landscape) / greenway for the city.
we later got on our bikes and cycled the eastern side of town to check it out, a very interesting cycle, near the end we got a few stones thrown at us by young hoods behind the botanic train station- but you get that on streets of dublin too.
then back to garden for resting and socializing
mon- early cycle around docks part of greenway then back to dublin
really top weekend with a lovely funny community
happy days
