Wogan and Fogarty have crossed the Picket Line!
the BBC are on strike from midnight 22/5/05 to midnight 23/5/05.
Help them out.
Don't watch BBC TV. (it may surprise you, but two of the BBC terestial channels are broadcast by powerful antennae into the Irish homeland). If you were sold a telly set with these stations on the preset selection, it is your duty as a socialist to ignore them today.
Scab. Likewise Radio. the BBC broadcasts radio into heads all over the planet. Ignore these signals today.
Likewise Internet. the BBC operates one the largest news gathering, monitoring, translating and appraisal services in the world.
Ignore this information today.
THIS IS A FIGHT!
A STRUGGLE!
at 02h00 (GMT) the site of the main union representing workers, and broadcasters, and camara folk, and translators, and appraisers went off-line! Agent Smith style.

info from BECTU:-
"Members of BECTU, NUJ, and Amicus have walked out of BBC buildings at the start of a 24-hour stoppage.
Industrial action began at midnight on Sunday May 22, and runs until midnight on May 23.
Thousands more members will join the strike over the course of the day by refusing to turn up for work, and unions predict that the BBC will struggle to maintain many services as normal.
Picket lines have been formed already at major buildings that run 24 hours a day, particularly in West London where the BBC's news arm is based, and all TV channels are played out.
Live programmes, particularly news, are likely to be affected, and one of the day's major events, the Queen's visit to Chelsea flower show, will depend heavily on material pre-recorded on Sunday.
BECTU's Assistant General Secretary, Gerry Morrissey, said: "Members have come out across the country to support the strike, and production has stopped. We're expecting them to be joined by thousands more as the day progresses, and we are confident that live programming will be curtailed, or cut altogether."
Across the BBC, union members voted almost four to one in favour of industrial action when talks with management on cuts and privatisation broke down.
Thousands of BBC staff face redundancy, privatisation, or outsourcing, in the biggest shake-up in the Corporation's history, and those who remain are expected to take on extra duties.

At meetings in the weeks running up to the stoppage, some of which were the best-attended in recent history, union members supported the call for BBC management to give guarantees to staff who could lose their jobs, or be handed to another employer, and a union demand that there should be full talks about the impact of the changes on BBC services.
The package of change which prompted the strike is the personal brainchild of Director General Mark Thompson, who has said that the pain is necessary to convince the government to give the BBC another 10 years of licence-fee funding.
However, unions have accused him of over-reacting to political critics, and have pointed out that the preservation of the licence fee was written into a government green paper on the BBC's future, before Thompson announced nearly 4000 job cuts in March this year.

Claims by management that the unions "walked away" from talks about the changes, were met by a call from officials for genuine negotiations that could alter the plans, rather than one-sided discussions solely about implementation of the cuts.
Morrissey said: "This should send a clear message to Mark Thompson to return to the bargaining table for meaningful negotiation, not just consultation." Today's stoppage could be the first of four if the BBC decides to sit tight, rather than get round the table with unions.
Two more dates for action have been named, May 31, and Jun 1, and unions have indicated that a fourth stoppage could be called later in June if necessary."

BBC Cymru, which broadcasts telly and radio pictures in instructional welsh has been reduced to looped tapes of Beethoven since 05h00am.
According to the information (which as a good socialist i am not going to link you to today) provided by the (spit! spit!) BBC, if the telly is playing classical music on loop, you must check if there are tanks on the street, and consider yourself in a "coup d'etat" situation.
RELAX.
There is not a "coup d'etat" situation in Cymru.
However in the eventuality of a "coup d'etat" situation emerging in other places, to which you might be considering a weekend break, or indeed have cherished relatives or pals enjoying temporary working visas or engaged in "hush-hush" military or technical advice programs, I've though to link you to "non BBC" world monitoring services.
(((After all this is 23/5 and its a good day for a coup)))

The Irish Executive Council of the NUJ has urged journalists, trade unionists, politicians and leaders of civic society in Ireland to support Monday’s strike at the BBC.
10,000 BBC staff, including workers in Dublin, Belfast and Derry are taking part in the one-day stoppage in protest at the corporation's decision to axe thousands of jobs and privatise key parts of the BBC.
Irish Secretary Seamus Dooley has written to all trade unions seeking support for the BBC strike. Journalists from media organisations in Ireland and freelance journalists have been warned against being used to break the official dispute and have been asked not to co-operate with BBC requests for interviews or copy during the work stoppage. The IEC is also urging press officers not to co-operate with the BBC during the strike action.
NUJ General Secretary Jeremy Dear said in a statement: We are asking journalists and press officers to support our action by refusing to co-operate with BBC requests for comments, stories, interviews, to appear as guests, provide pictures etc. during those periods. It is important that trade unionists in Ireland, especially in the Republic, do not unintentionally co-operate with strike breaking.”
Seamus Dooley said the threat to the BBC was a battle of huge significance for the NUJ. "In Northern Ireland the threat to the BBC is of particular significant, not just because of the employment implications but because what is being proposed strikes at the very heart of the Corporation."
NOW LOOK AT THE FACE OF THE SCAB!
TERRY WOGAN IS A TRAITOR TO THE WORKING CLASS, TO JOURNALISTS, TO IRELAND!
He probably crossed the line not knowing where he was or what he was doing, still pissed from all the bailey's he poured down his xenophobic neck at Kiev on Saturday. he might have a sort of homing pigeon gene that makes him return to Shepherd's Bush on autopilot.
Still, that's no excuse. All the booze in his fat arse will only make his burn faster. Brothers and Sisters, the hour has come! Payback time for 'Wogan's Island'!
the largest most effective combined trade union action has interrupted the social program of several regional areas of the UK and the trans-national NI broadcasting work of the BBC.
In this time we have managed to carry out a completely successful coup d'etat in mid Cymru
and have autonomised a colliery which just goes to prove we don't need aunty beeb.

Tony Benn, "veteran lefty" has appeared at the picket line to blast the privitisation proposals of Lord Birt, Mark Thomson and Tony Blair, which if succesful will see almost 15,000 intelligence employees looking for alternative careers in social organisation and brainwashing and probably spamming up indymedia and cluttering the local kindergarten with "s-t-i-c-k-y-b-a-c-k- p-l-a-s-t-i-c".

RTE should be next.
you got a lot of issues regarding wogan dont you? whats wrong you, his lovechild or something? doesnt he call or talk to you?
He had his father in law taken away and locked up in an old peoples home , just for pure badness .
Apparently his da-in-law was an old IRA man . He got seriously pissed off with Wogan going on the telly and always saying "we" when referring to Britain in the Eurovision. So he rang up the papers and told them about his own IRA background . This was during the early 90s London campaign and the News of the World did a front page "expose" of Terry Wogans IRA links . Obviously not good for Wogans target "middle england" audience and his attempts to ingratiate himself with the limeys as a lovable , smooth talking drone of some kind .
A week later the poor oul fella was safely under lock and key in an expensive nursing home ( wouldnt surprise me if he was heavily sedated to boot) . He never saw freedom again and died incarcerated in Wogans private prison .
The cold hearted vicious bastard !!
Imagine surviving the Black and Tans , auxies , free-state firing squads and rampant tuberculosis epidemics to die at the hands of Terry f###ing Wogan !!
(ok, his paid minions)
Im also old enough to remember the "Floral Dance" . What was that shite about ? Morriss dancers and feckin tubas ? FFS !!
That was another hateful c##t who was never off the BBC.
Dont start me about that buck toothed bastard .

have been condemned by the PM of Turkey just after the two minutes of silence held worldwide today for the July 7 bombings in London.
He accuses the key western news agencies of double standards, typified in his eyes by their insistence oncalling the PKK a militia and not a terrorist group.
The PKK are a militia in Kurdistan a land which borders Iraq and turkey and is under the jurisidiction of both states. The Kurds are overquota represented in the new Iraqi assembly where their joint PKK and DKK party initiative was praised by London and Washington for its commitment to peace in the region.
The same party are listed by the Turkish as being terrorist organisations. The Turkish PM asked that all media organisations end their double standards.
He leads a state which accused of practising "state terrorism" and militarising its control of the Kurdish regions where many militias have formed in the last years to carry out actions which some thing are terrorism and others democracy.
Both Kurds and Turks have appaling human rights records. They live to the east of Europe and have many relatives in Europe. They have a fondness for good food. They have great senses of humour.
Both Turkish and Kurdish girls are very pretty and a lot of fun. Turks and Kurds believe different things both obstenisibly suporting secular states. The only difference being the Kurds don't have a state yet. Coz the turks won't let them, and they're busy helping the US and the UK help the Iraqis have a state. Iraqis live in a country the size of France. It is located between Iran and Syria. Iraqis don't eat much on account of being very poor. Iraqi girls vote and get their thumbs inked. Iraqis believe lots of different things, but generally divide themselves into two types of Islam, the kathurlick kind and the calivinist kind. Both kinds have seen upsurge in extremism and the associated downturn in attendance at night classes on other cultures after they were illegally invaded and occupied by the USA and UK under Mr Bush and very popular Mr Blair who didn't act on popular demand or in an accountable way......

From the run up to the war until the present day the BBC's coverage of the Iraq war and the role of our politicians has been lamentable.
* Genuine antiwar voices have been absent from our screens,
* Knowledgeable experts such as former weapons inspectors have been ignored,
* The true costs in innocent lives resulting from our programme of sanctions goes unmentioned.
* The orgy of killing by our forces has been glossed over and sanitised,
* Essential services such as water, power and hospitals have been, and continue to be, targeted
* Iraq laws have been rewitten and a political structure put in place which makes it virtually impossible for them to be changed.
* The Iraqi media has been obstructed, censored and targeted.
* Whole cities have had collective punishments which range from medieval type sieges to the cities themselves being raised to the ground.
* Illegal weapons such as napalm have been used and cluster bombs have been dropped indiscriminately in civilian areas.
* Evidence that our Government planned to lie in order to commit this supreme crime of a war of aggression is reflected in broadcasts.
As I'm sure you know this list could go on............
