DISOBEDIENT MAY (from spanish state)

AN ANTIMILITARIST AND INTERNATIONAL CALL

Activities can include citizens weapons inspections, nonviolent blockades of military bases, headquarters, recruitment offices, or weapons manufacturers, vigils and demonstrations in front of military bases, and many other creative actions.

Hello chums, greetings from "alternativa antimilitarista-moc" groups (spanish state). We are pleased to invite you to a MAY of protest, direct action and civil disobedience, at all military bases throughout the world. This international Call to Action becomes open to all activists, groups and networks interested in the antimilitarist work, and claims for the closing down of all the military instalations and its devolution to society for a social an ecological use. Reclaim the Bases: not even an inch for war. We don't want to be part of a global war that makes all of us be potential
victims. We must look beyond the wars in the headlines towards an effort to desmantle the whole military infrastructure in our society.

Activities can include citizens weapons inspections, nonviolent blockades of military bases, headquarters, recruitment offices, or weapons manufacturers, vigils and demonstrations in front of military bases, and many other creative actions.

In the next weeks, a number of actions at military sites throughout Spain will take place. Marchs, direct actions and civil inspections are planned at the NATO Response Force HQ in Valencia, the US aero-naval base in Rota (Cádiz), the exercise camp in San Gregorio (Zaragoza), the shooting camp in and Bardenas (Navarra), the radar base of Aitana (Alicante), and the NBC warfare facilities in La Marañosa (Madrid), among other military installations that definitely turn the Spanish territory into a gigantic training and military agression platform that points towards the South.

The capitalist exploitation and its armed defence on a global scale are the two sides of the coin of a system with no scruples, based upon the profit of a minority and upon our submission. The era we are starting is one of military strategy, the globalization of militarism: the liquidation of liberties inside, and the merciless global war outside.

We need, then, to bring about, among all the social movements, world action for the demilitarisation and for the abolition of the armies, for a culture of peace which facilitates a radical change to recover the direction of our lifes. We want to break the supposed 'consensus', which has been imposed through the corporative media, over the origins and the solutions to violence. We want in this month to make space for public discussion and direct action, for a joint action between antimilitarist and anticapitalist movements and the other struggles against all the other forms of oppression.

This Call to Action wants to promote nonviolence, civil disobedience, and antimilitarism, and it is a good opportunity to remember, once again, the War Resisters' International declaration: "War is a crime against humanity. I am therefore determined not to support any kind of war, and to strive for the removal of all causes of war"

alternativa antimilitarista-moc and friends.
