Massive protest in Israel

category international | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Monday July 26, 2004 11:20author by free israel Report this post to the editors

150.000 Israelis formed a massive human chain from Jerusalem to Gaza to protest Ariel Sharons racist plan to evict all jews from Gaza.

Many of these jews who protesting were born and raised in Gaza. Now this new racist decicion will evict them from their homes only because they are not arab muslims. Sharon has said jews will withdraw from Gaza by the end of 2005. There are about 240.000 jews living in Gaza. It is a massive violation of their human rights if they will have to leave their homes by force.

The jewish population of Gaza occupies the land in contravention of international human rights law.

The jewish immigrant population that did not live in Gaza prior to the establishment of the 1967 state do not have any right under international law to residency in Gaza. Their removal represents partial compliance with a long outstanding breach of international law that the Israel has perpetuated.

The Fourth Geneva Convention states that it is illegal for a nation which occupies territory to permit the transfer of its own population to the occupied territory.

The Convention also prohibits the deliberate killing of those settlers who are classified as civilians, but the protection does not afford them any right whatsoever to continue to live in Gaza. The legal position is exactly the opposite - by continuing to reside in Gaza, the settlers themselves are in breach of international law. The UN has found that the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza and the treatment of Palestinian residents consitutes a grave breach of the Convention, in other words, a war crime. The settlers are an integral and willing participant to war crimes, they are war criminals, and their calls that their rights are being breached should be seen in that context.

The civiilian settlers have a number of rights protected under international law. They have the right to be held in humane conditions while awaiting their trial for war crimes, and they have the right not to be summarily executed by Palestinian fighters. Unfortunately the Palestinian victims of their war crimes appear to have no international right to force them to leave their illegal occupation and no capable force to bring these war criminals to justice.

And let us not forget that the removal of Gaza settlements, if it ever turns into reality, will not end the litany of other international war crimes committed on the people of Gaza.

The jewish population of Gaza occupies the land, really? Or is it the arab-muslim population who occupy jewish land? Just try to think about it. How much land do jews have in middle east? And how much land do arab-muslims have in middle east? Well, lets see.. they have Jordania, Egypt, Syria, Saudi-Arabia, Libya, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Jemen, Algeria.......... And whats this talk about independent Palestinian state, Gaza used to be part of Egypt and westbank part of Jordania before they (arab muslims) attacked to Israel and lost the war they themselves started.

Right, 'free israel', that sounds to me like an admission. You conquered the territory after militarily defeating your opponents. So what you are saying is that 'Might Is Right'?

You are occupying territory you seized by force. You have no moral authority to do so.

I've just realised that the real problem is the number of celts living on Jewish land. I mean what proportion of isreal is occuppied by celts?

I claim your house and farm as a small step to righting the vicious repression of the rights of celts in the middle east. You can now live in the garden shed as a sign of my unparalleled kindness, although I might have to build a 400 foot high wall around you.

And, in case you were wondering, my rights to this land are proven by my holy book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. In chapter 12 verse 11, Augustus Gloop clearly specifies that your house is mine.

Badman, you will have to take your place in the queue. Us Firbolg were there before you, as we are the rightful owners to that land.
But if you ask nicely I will let you stay in my outside latrine.

Badman, shame on you, maliciously misreading scripture to prove a point. We all know Augustus Gloop was a sinner and the lord removed him by chapter 4 verse 9. I think you are referring to the end of chapter 12 where Willy tells Charlie that the factory is his as Charlie had resisted the devil in the guise of a sacred gobstopper.

Hark a nation is born.

'free israel' should really do his/her homework. Here are the facts: There are 7500, not 240,000, Jewish settlers living in 21 illegal settlements in Gaza as opposed to 1.3 million Palestinians living in conditions often described as the worlds largest open prison. Very few of the settlers have been born in these settlements as these are of fairly recent origin. Most Israelis agree with total withdrawal from Gaza, opinion polls put the number at approx 70%.

If these settlers have a 'human right' to stay on this land stolen from palestinians surely 'free israel' believes that the huge number of palestinians living in refugee camps in Gaza have a right to return to their lands in within Israel?

Do not forget that it was arab countries who started wars against Israel, not vice versa. Current situation is not because of Israeli agrression, but because ARAB AGGRESSION. Did arabs care if they had moral authority to do so, try to push jews to sea? No they did not. After all that has happened why should Israel give a f... about what arabs think or what their "rights" are?? Arabs started the war against jews decades ago, now they face the consequences.

"Arabs started the war against jews decades ago, now they face the consequences."

This is a racist argument. Holding everybody who you perceive to belong to some 'race' responsible for something that you claim some others of their 'race' did decades ago is simply racist and has no relation to normal human ethics.

A guy with thick eyelashes hit me a few years back. Since then I have beaten up hundreds of them. They started it.

And to Yemon: Your quotation reveals that you are using the revisionist penguin imprint of the wonka scriptures - heretic!!!

Thank you 'free israel' for illustrating your inability to engage in rational debate. Far from acknowledging that your facts were inaccurate you engage in a racist rant. As I am not in the habit of engaging in futile discussion with racists, I will leave you to your ravings.

PS Maybe I got it wrong and Sharon has changed his mind and rushed in 233500 extra settlers to shore up the existing 7500?

'Arabs started the war against jews decades ago'
Of course it is always the other person who started it.
If you examine history you will find that the Israelites invaded that land several thousand years ago, slaughtering the previous inhabitants. But of course they were only doing as they had been directed by 'Yahweh'. So, presumably being directed by god justifies everything they do to the Arabs.

Of course it does. God is now a stupid white man who loves America and Israel more than anything in the world and loves George Bush even more than his own son Jebacus who he sent to Earth to be nailed to a tree for telling people to turn the other cheek. He loves George Bush more because he knows that telling him to turn the other cheek would see him nailed to a metaphorical tree come November so he talks to him and tells to go ahead and drop bombs which only kill baddies and to support his choosen people in Israel who he put there to fight the baddie terrorists who were there all along just waiting for someone to fight with but anyway he's still gonna burn his choosen people for all eternity come the day when he sends his hapless son back down here to save his favorite human in the whole wide world, Georgie.

Can we see some pics of this chain? is there some independant verification of this event?I did notice one pic in todays guardian of 6 WOMEN forming a sort of chain , however it wasn't as big as the chain of illegal settlements that run down the gaza coast preventing the Palestinians from getting to the sea!!!

Shame on you Isra-el that you use the word God in your illegitimate country's title.SHAME.Nothing else can be said except SHAME. No doubt you couldn't care less what Humans think of you.SHAME on you anyway.

As for the crap about scripture, interesting that you people find this subject to be something you can reduce to comedy, i'm sure your humor is going down well in Occupied Gaza.Shame on you lot too!

Yeah, racist against the settlers... sure that's Arik's motivation,

or can it be that he needs to install a new border for the racist sectarian state so that the palestinians will not outnumber the Israelis ... cos then... if they all demand a vote, the Israeli govt has to abandon its claims to democracy if it wants to continue to treat palestinians as second class citizens.

THAT's why the wall extends so far into the west bank, to grab as much land, yet as few Palestinians inside Israel's liebensraum.

some settlers get relocated to facilitate this,... and while most settlers are happy to relocate Palestinians, they don't appreciate getting shafted themselves

It is really sickening how slowly some people learn from history

I'm sure the people of occupied gaza have nothing better to worry about than us blaspheming.

I'm sure we can get the UN to pass a mandate to ease their suffering over this, and one that they'll actually enforce at that.

are NOT descendants of the Cna'anites. they r descendants of the Arab invaders of the 9th century. (A.D).
i din't despice their 1,100 years of living in Israel / Palestine, but its not that they didn't invaded in their time.

besides, conquering and invading IS the way any other state in the world was established.
