500 plus people marched on Sunday against plans to build apartments and a pub beside Round Tower in Clondalkin Village

Over 500 people of all ages marched yesterday (Sunday 20th June) to protest the planned development of the half acre site beside the Round Tower in CLondalkin. The march was organised by the (non-political) "Rally Round the Tower" group and left from the grounds of Áras Chrónán, led by the Clondalkin Pipe Band.

A broad range of people were there, families, older people, Scouts etc

Developers lodged a planning application recently to build an apartment block, a pub/restaurant and an interpretive centre on the site. Rally Round the Tower have called on the Government and South Dublin COunty Council to buy the land and develope it as a heritage centre.

Ní ghlacann muintir Cluain Dolcáin leis an iarracht seo ár ndúchais a loite, tá an Chloig Teach ansin le 1200 blian anuas, ní féidir leis an ngluain seo ligint do aon dream é a scriosadh.
