NVDA Training for Trainers
A full day workshop aiming to equip people to facilitate Non-Violent Direct Action (NVDA) workshops. The workshop will cover a number of aspects of NVDA as well as general workshop facilitation skills. The primary aim will be to prepare people to facilitate a short (2-3 hour), pre-action NVDA workshop but much of the material will obviously have other applications as well.
This workshop is aimed at anyone who has ever felt under-prepared going into an action. Such workshops are not just for pacifists or hippies and in fact work better with a wide range of views present. Neither do you have to be a vastly experienced Super-Activist (TM) to help facilitate a NVDA workshop.
You aren't committing yourself to anything by coming to one of these sessions. However if, having done this workshop, you are interested in helping facilitate NVDA workshops in the future, there will be the option to stay in contact with others so as to learn of relevant opportunities and provide/receive mutual support. The workshop will be based on a model in which such workshops are co-facilitated by two people. If, having done this workshop, you do feel you would like to help facilitate a NVDA workshop in the future we would help in pairing you with a more experienced facilitator on the first few occasions.
The workshop is being offered in conjunction with Turning the Tide, a very experienced UK based organisation. They have worked with Trident Ploughshares, with activists preparing to travel to Palestine, with activists preparing for the DSEi protests and many others.
