Cloughjordan is a village where life moves at a measured pace – poet and patriot Thomas McDonagh, a native of Cloughjordan, described it as a place “in calm of middle country”. Now, a century later, it remains free from the hassle and congestion of modern city life but with many amenities such as pubs, shops, schools, sports clubs and churches. Located close to Nenagh, Birr and Roscrea, Cloughjordan also has a twice-daily train service to both Limerick and Dublin.
In the eco-village 60 per cent of heating will come from solar energy.
Ninety per cent of waste will be recycled and each house will be built from environmentally friendly materials. There will be an orchard, a wild life area, an organic farm, community buildings and a broadband communications network.
Becoming a member and buying a site in the development offers people an opportunity to build a home in a unique, sustainable community, which is committed to ecological and social quality of life.
