60-day prison sentence for Shannon protest

Fintan Lane began a 60-day prison sentence on Wednesday 26th November for his refusal to pay a €750 fine for protesting at Shannon Airport. He is in Limerick Prison and is in good form. Letters can be sent to him at Limerick Prison, Mulgrave Street, Limerick. Visits are being co-ordinated by Joe Moore and Dominic Carroll of the Cork Anti-War Campaign; prisoners are limited to 2 visits a week, so please phone 087 1258325 if you wish to visit Fintan.

MAMA (Mid-Western Alliance against Military Aggression) holding vigil for Fintan outside Limerick prison at 8.00 p.m. Sunday, 30th. November.
Roughly 100-150 other people trespassed with Fintan that day. Show solidarity with his principled action now and join the vigil if you can.

Fintan is one of the main movers behind the demo at Shannon next weekend, so show him some solidarity by turning up and keeping it peaceful like he wanted.

Yes, please turn up to the blocade: this was Fintan's idea and I think the best solidarity that can be offered right now is to make it a success.

However, I can't stress enough the importance of receiving letters of solidarity when you're in prison. Please take the time to drop him a postcard or letter; conditions are not as good when you're serving a sentence as when you're on remand in Limerick in terms of communication with the outside world, and letters are an enormous boost to morale. You can write to him at:

Limerick Prison,
Mulgrave Street,
Limerick.
