John Hewitt bar belfast bans killa coke

category antrim | miscellaneous | news report author Friday October 17, 2003 09:47author by nellie and kellie Report this post to the editors

The John Hewitt bar in belfast has banned killa coke because of killa coke's appalling treatment of its bottlers and trade unionists. Trade union bottlers at killa cokes factories in Colombia have been murdered by junta militia hired by killa coke.

people ordering killa coke will be given a leaflet explaining and detailing killa cokes atrocities against their workers and trade unionists.

at last... Coke will be destroyed taking those dang panda bears with it. And may Pepsi fall as well... leaving the world to enjoy me MR. PIBB the truest form of cola there is. Dr. Pepper can eat my arse.

Irn Bru!
Or there is a cola made in Brittany by a small workers coop as well but cannae remember the name.
Anyway, whisky is nicer without that fizzy non sense.
Mecca cola why not.
There are simply wee coke imitation in every coner shop.

why do every cola drink company seem to rip-off the coke branding, its really irritating. Is it possible to buy Mecca coke over here as I havent had a whiskey and coke in quite a while, i miss it.

It tastes really good - almost the same as the real thng.

as far as i know, mecca cola is based in France, and its biggest market is european muslims. I pretty sure it doesn't (yet) sell in the middle east, but may in some parts of north africa.

I've never seen it in the Republic, but I would be interested to taste it.

Where did you get your info from?
I've read up on the company and checked out their website (www.mecca-cola.com) and there is no mention of them being a co-operative.

I saw no mention of them selling in the Arab world, although some articles mentioned that they wished to sell in Arab in the not so distant future.

I know of Mecca Cola. It gives 10% of its net profits to palestinian charities, projects etc.
And another 10% to local NGOs.

But it isn't on sale in the 26 as far as I am aware.
It also has written in small writing on its bottles, something along the lines of, Please do not mix with alcohol.

Are its distributors willing to sell to pubs etc?

author by Erin go Braghpublication date Fri Oct 17, 2003 11:30author address author phone Report this post to the editors

A Co-operative of palestinian peoples are producing the above product and it is easily obtained in a lot of shops in Belfast.
This Co-op pays its staff properly, has good terms and conditions and is a major seller in the Arab world.

With any luck, the bars and clubs will start to stock it, if the breweries dont use their stranglehold on them as the ONLY supplier.

I have a friend who has told me he'd be willing to boycott Coke products in his bar if there is another alternative to it.
He's Dublin based.

Any chance of the text of that leaflet or a link for it???

All of us should try to get Coke taken out of our workplaces and publicise what this company is doing to trades unionists and workers.
