There has been an e-mail circulating concerning a protest outside the FAI offices on Merrion Square today at 7.30. Will this be attended by all the fools who laughed at me in the past for wasting my time whilie protesting against war and inequality? I'd like to see the crowd both the make up and the scale. I'm interested in seeing it but unfortunately I cant make it (I'm going playing a bit of football). So if anyone is in the area and a little curious maybe they could post a few details later or tomorrow? Did these protesors take thier lead from the wave of protest on the news this last few years? Is there a way to get these people out on other marches now that they 'march'? Yours baffled but still in love with the beautiful game.

With their past record at protests and talk of the Soccer hooligans of late be careful at the protest we do not know how the Gardai will react, ;-), or do we?

It's actually quite simple. As working class people, we are interested in and motivated by football and don't have much time for your ridiculuous protests - largely attended by white dreads and the middle class - which seem to involve mouthing off about about how much you hate cops and wanting to remove them and then crying when they kick the fuck out of your poncey middle class "radical" arses.
Simple really

There isnt a snowballs chance that the cops will say diddly squat to anybody, this is a crosssection of the community that would be described as non confrontational; which is why they should be on more marches than this.
And to Patrick with his 'working class grievances', that horse is dead, dont keep flogging it, there have been more than one or two marches in the last few years, most of which had working class connotations or interests at heart. Recognising your friends is as important as indentifying your enemies.

good god, you paranoid nutbag, the questions posed on that link were asked and answered immediately and then I left it. I was being challenged by people who knew I was there and couldnt answer these questions. I had a row with a fireman who claimed they (the brigade) werent there from the start, and that they were hit by stuff thrown at them. Whats this site for anyway? Independent Media or a biased left wing platform to counter the narrowmindedness in the mainstream media. Are you suggesting secret undergound meetings? For me that's halfway to condemning yourself.
peace

I am not opposed to a protest, but given the treatment Roy Keane has been subjected to by the shower known as the FAI, the cock up they and the "manager" made of the world cup preparations, and the approach of his "team mates", if I was Roy Keane, far from making an apology, I would tell the shower in Merrion Square, the "Manager" and his fellow players to shove it and go on holiday with my family.

does any one else think its crazy that the whole roy keane saga has been taking first place on the news everyday, ahead of whats happening in pakistan and india. so fucking what if some footballer won't play in some competition, its only a game, there are way more important things going on. take for example the fact that young children are being exploited- making the usual football crap that goes with every world cup. its a bit sickening that a game has been made into a multi billion pound/euro industry, that teams pay millions for players while people starve every day. theres no problem with having an interest in sport, but some people are drugged by it, they know more about manchester united than they do about the real world around them, that cannot be healthy. i can't believe that people actually protested about roy keane, its just a game, these people wouldn't protest to make their own lifes or others better but they protest about a football player! what kind of a crazy world do we live in???

Just to clarify my earlier comments were meant as a joke. Part of me does echo what Tracey has stated, but I will still be up at 7.30 Saturday morning

I am shocked to learn that after the way Roy Keane has been shafted, you are still planning to display solidarity with McCarthy & co. You should switch off in protest.
