International Campaign to support Worker Communist Party of Iraq In the Post-Saddam Iraq, where a dark scenario resulted by the US & UK occupying presence, has dominated all aspects of the lives of the population, the Islamic reactionary groups have got opportunity of threateninng women´s and men´s life and freedom and Baath regime´s remnants try to restore the bloody past hell, THERE IS A HOPE FOR A BRIGHT FUTURE FOR THE IRAQI PEOPLE, THAT IS THE WORKER COMMUNIST PARTY OF IRAQ. To strengthen a socialist, secular alternative in Irapi politics vis-a-vis both US & UK occupation and Islamic & Baath reaction, SUPPORT THE WORKER COMMUNIST PARTY OF IRAQ. Following 10 years of clandestine activity, the Worker Communist Party of Iraq (WCPI) has begun overt activities in Baghdad and in central and southern cities of Iraq.
WCPI launched a wide movement to set up mass organizations, Trade Unions and Workers’ Councils, supporting women in Iraq to establish their organizations.
WCPI’s Radio and offices in Kirkook, are the only parts of city’s politics to which people could turn up, in order to stop the bloody ethnic cleansing and nationalistic conflicts.
WCPI in the south cities is organizing homeless people and secure re housing them.
WCPI plans in its daily activities, broadcasting Radio programs, TV progrm, organizing People’s Assemblies .

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7is the WCP of Iraq the same organisation as the CP of Iraq (the ones affiliated to the CP Ireland and the CP Britain - as opposed to the CPGB)?
If not, who are their international affiliates, or do they have any?
(i don't have time to trawl thru their site, so any supreme sectologists out there, now is your chance to shine...)
The CPI is at http://www.iraqcp.org/ They're the group that, from what I've heard, did some amazing work before Saddam, and were slaughtered by Saddam, and who offer the best hope for the Iraqi people today.
I looked briefly at the site of the WCPI, they have a links page but no links. Probably some other communist tradition/tendency is trying to start a group there. They're connected to the WCP of Iran, but that group's links page is similarily blank.

CCers believe in local councils as the most important political unit, although I'm pretty sure they also believe in a national parliament.

"Changing the Farsi alphabet
In order to help bridge the gap that separates Iranian society from the forefronts of scientific, industrial and cultural progress in the world today, and in order to help people benefit from the results of this progress and take a more direct and active part in it, the official Farsi alphabet should be systematically changed to Latin.
The party also calls for:
1 - English language to be taught from early school age with the aim of making it a prevalent language of education and administration.
2 - The Western calendar (the official calendar in use internationally today) to be officially recognized and to be used in official documents alongside the local calender. "
Odd, particularly as the Farsi alphabet as such isn't really used in Iraq...
I did not find any thing on the WCPI about the changing of the alphabet but i do not that there there is a wroker-communist party of Iran as well as Iraq, So that migh have bee what you saw
However i could not find any other WCP's in the region.
If you look on the section of their website entitled 'Party's programme' you'll see it there. However, looking again at that, it turns out that what's on that section of the site is actually the programme of the Worker-communist Party of Iran.
