Black Bastard “N.Ireland Black Bastard not a racists one”

author by pat cpublication date Sat May 31, 2003 18:11author address author phone Report this post to the editors

It is important to explain the term Black Bastard. In an Irish context this refers to a man (yes, exclusively male) who is a member of the Black Preceptory of the Orange Order. This is an elitist section of the Orange Order and its members would be drawn mainly from the Upper Middle Class and the Ruling Class.

So,it is in no way racist. Not even sectarian really, as its a class based insult.

However,to prevent misunderstanding, it would be best if the term Black Orange Bastard were used.

However, while Bill would have an Upper Middle Class income, there is no evidence to suggest he is or ever was a member of the Black Preceptory. In these circumstances it is hardly correct to refer to him in the way "sober" did.

my ma often refers to George Hamilton (the footie commentator) as a black bastard. Do we have any evidence of this?

I consider tony blair and bush to be stupid white bastards (with apologies to M. Moore) does that mean Im racist (Im white skinned btw)? I consider Bush's house slave colin powell to be a bastard too but Im not allowed to reference his skin colour but its ok to mention Bush and his poodles. Hmmm tooo PC I think.
Anyway, to hell with racisim.

The black bastard comment is just racist. Stop trying to cover it up with stupid arguments.

Use of the term Black bastard when refering to bill morris is clearly racist.
In the northern context the term is used to mean a protestant and is equaly bigoted.
These atttempts to justify its use are silly and are an insult to the excellent work of the left in the T&G who fought so hard in the election.
