Enough is enough, we feel we must offer people the confidence that an organisation exists to defend their legal interest. Increasing demonstrations of police brutality might demoralise activities or encourage others to disengage from their varied struggles. Our first fund raising event takes place this Saturday in the top floor of Doyle's on College Street Dublin 2 (at the side of Trinity College). We will be holding a meeting from 8-9 o'clock where people can voice the concerns and suggestions about how best to defend our minimal legal protections. From 9 till late we will have dj's playing. Admission is 5 Euro please show your support. We encourage all activists to attend so we can make a start on fund raising and we can see the support from activists for such an organisation.

Irish Anarchist Legal Defence Group

We are a group of individuals who have came together as a response to recent incidents of state repression against activists in Ireland. Our goal is to help counter attempts by the state to obstruct dissent and direct action. We defend the right of all anarchists who attempt to expose, challenge and change the exploitive structure of the capitalist social system.

We aim to support activists who, by their involvement in direct action, public protest or related activities, find themselves in a court, a police cell or a prison.

Our means are:
(1) To raise funds for legal costs and fines.
(2) To provide moral support and use direct action in order to put pressure on the authorities, using such means as court protests, building international solidarity and letter-writing campaigns etc.
(3) To provide information to potential victims of state repression concerning their legal rights (while always being very cognisant of the fact that traditionally these legal rights have often been ignored by the two states in Ireland).
(4) To spread information about the cases of people - both in Ireland and Internationally- victimised for their political beliefs/actions.

We endorse support towards activists who are not involved in any perpetuation of established political hierarchies and whose actions are in keeping with the core principles of anarchism. Though we are based in Ireland we do not forget the difficulties for international anarchist prisoners. Solidarity is extended to our comrades imprisoned throughout the world; anarchism knows no artificially imposed state borders.

We accept the law in Ireland and throughout the globe reflects the interest of the ruling capitalist class. We don?t want the boss?s law imposed on us but it is and with this a reality we want to offer activist the confidence that this organisation will support their struggle.
