SPEECH BUBBLES HIT ESSO IN NORTH AMERICA
Tens of thousands of photographs of StopEsso supporters from around
the world are landing on the doorsteps of ExxonMobil board members in
the USA. Now is your chance to let these board members, who've been
misled to believe that the StopEsso campaign is very small, know just
how many of you want this company to change its attitude on climate

Greenpeace local groups have been out on the street since February,
getting thousands of speech bubble photos. People have been sending
them to the website, Students from People & Planet have teamed up
with students in the USA who are also working on the project.

FRIENDS OF THE EARTH LOCAL DAY OF ACTION
May 17 will see Friends of the Earth groups across the country taking
action against Esso and getting more speech bubble photos, either on
high streets or in peaceful, legal pickets at Esso stations.

WE JOIN THE TURIN BRAKES TOUR
StopEsso went on tour with top UK band Turin Brakes where we snapped
hundreds of their fans with the speech bubbles, raising hundreds of
pounds for the campaign. There was even the odd Esso Sucks T-shirt
onstage and on Top of the Pops!

SING A SONG OF ESSO
For those of you in London, you'll be happy to know that Greenpeace
has finally owned up to installing the somewhat unique stopesso Poems
on the Underground.
Sing a song of Esso
A packet full of lies
And oily greasy dollars
To make the climate fry
The web was full of chat about them, including a discussion group of
London Underground maintenance staff who were reluctant to take them
down. The poems even started a revolution on the tube, we hear, with
complete strangers actually talking to each other about them.

EXXONMOBIL RECORD PROFITS
Exxon has reported the highest ever quarterly profits in history,
largely due to the rising price of oil by fears in the face of the
Iraq war. This is the first of the benefits to come to the oil
industry from the attack on Iraq.

24-HOUR PICKETS
Over the past month, 24-hour pickets have been held in Bangor,
Coventry, Newport and, last weekend, at three Esso stations in
Essex. Congratulations to all of you who braved the cold and the
long nights to get your message to Esso.

PROTESTS EVERYWHERE!
Indeed, many of you have held protests around the country, some in
conjunction with Stop The War protests. We've heard of many, from
the Isle of Man, to Belfast, and the Raging Grannies in Exmouth. If

EXXONMOBIL AGM RESOLUTIONS FILED
A record number of shareholder resolutions have been filed for the
company's annual general meeting, to be held in Texas on May 28.
This year, along with one on renewable energy, there's another
calling on the company to explain how it will cope with the risk its
climate policy is posing to the company.
