question for imc collective

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Sunday April 27, 2003 14:36author by me - imc Report this post to the editors

hidden where?

I added a comment to a post yesterday, It was a rant about how the collective were censorous, My comment was supportive of your right to hide rubbish posts.

Today I had a look for the article and it had been 'hidden', now all of the other imc's that i have visited have a link to hidden articles.
I cannot find that link on the ireland site, where is it?
I even looked through the archive of your newswire list where details of hidden articles are supposed to posted, but to no avail.
I have noticed that there are quite a lot of posts on your newswire alleging that articles have been deleted, in other imc's the imc collective just points out that the article is still availible in the 'hidden bin' why is it that you do not operate like other imc's?

All that i am saying is that by operating in a more transparent way you will make your lives easier by having less "you have censored me posts"

imc volunteer (not ireland)

This sort of query is easier to deal with through the contact form rather than on the newswire, but never mind.

what's you're looking for is....

www.topica.com/lists/imc-ireland-hidden/read

this is a temporary solution - very rough and ready - all articles hidden are automatically sent here, often with reasons for hiding as well.

we don't use the same software as other sites - we came up with our own solution, and based on the awkwardness of certain interfaces (check out UK) it's going quite well - however you're right, it means things don't always look the same as they would on other sites.

We are updating the software here at the moment - new code but a similar design, with extra functionality (categories, search, a better back end for editors and admin) which should make this easier. In the meantime though the address above holds the hidden stuff (the way it works is any post hidden is automatically emailed to this mailing list, the link being the web-based archive of the list)

thanks for visiting, me...stick around :)

not all deleted articles end up on the topica list, why is that and where do they go? this has been a consistent problem. for instance where is the article about the kabul irish pub shut due to threats?

Oh come on! That article is here http://www.indymedia.ie/cgi-bin/newswire.cgi?id=45164 right where it's always been. If you're going to find bogeymen under the bed do it properly!

given there is no archive or search facilty for the newswire. my bad. thank you for locating it.

Just don't think the worst of us - presume that we are good folks not bad folks, at least until proven otherwise.

It's not fair to assume that an article that you can't find that's a page or two inside the wire has been deleted based on no reasons except your natural suspicions, and then blame it on the fact that we don't have a search feature (coming soon, yes, from work by more volunteers).

Of being accused of being Zionist sympathisers out to suppress Rachel Corries death you can excuse Daithi of being a bit fed up.

Also his entire world has been shattered by Hilda's searing logic.

http://www.sindominio.net/lesnaus/materiales/AlienNaus.jpg

there were t-shirts once but they're all sold.

the slogan read
"if they come for me at dawn they'll come for you at dusk".

Anyway...
CSO (centre social okupe) Les Naus (a pun it means both vessels, space ships and factories) "naves" in espanol, is up for eviction.

This is a very special place.
squatted for over 8 years, it has provided countless with theatre and circus space, talking space, music space, dance space, artistic expression space.
As such it is officially recognised as a "artistic association", which means it can sell beer to its members.
who are its members?
well the assembly is very big (aren't they always) and now they are calling in the signatures.
read the text in english at
http://www.sindominio.net/lesnaus/materiales/Faxenglish.rtf

if you read spanish (castillian) read the history at
http://www.sindominio.net/lesnaus/materiales/Dossier.pdf

then spread the word that this place needs to be supported/protected/ talked about in all the places we "talk" about things in.
(like give the euro-journalists their next story).

journo compatible details:
many really interesting people have lived in Les Naus @ some stage.
(it deserves a "blue plaque")
many really interesting people have worked in Les Naus. This years Cannes film festival will see the 22" short by French underground film maker Regius Fourrier "nada para mi" which was shot in Les Naus and Poble Nou 2001-2002.
(tis a great movie & I play a writer on drugs)
(twas a demanding role)
Anyway i'll see about the court order support petition for ye to put your names with, this place is ·really· special, and is the sort of squat we all want to see working open and inspiring others long into the future.
