Their position within the church is the same as any of the others; the Palestinian Authority is responsible for them and they will take their direction from President Arafat. They ask for a deal like that with the internationals in Ramallah; they have to be set free, no names of any internationals taken, no custody, and no deportation and no interdiction by the Israelis to return here. They are doing a humanitarian work, like those in the church, and in no way they could be considered a source of trouble or criminals…. They committed no violence against anyone…. They are under continuous pressure, and humiliating conditions… they are starving, and no food is allowed to them and to all the other besieged in the church… they drink from the stagnant water of the well in the church, and their sufferings are multiplied by the continuous pressure their consulates and EU security adviser are exercising on them… They call upon all of you to react…. Upon all internationals in the area to multiply efforts to deliver them food and medicines, and to help them stand against these illegal and unjustified pressures… It is a shame for anyone who believes in freedom and humanity to accept and exercise such pressure…” |

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3 4 5This sickens me...these people went into the church of their own free will. They knew in advance that the conditions would be bad. What did they expect? Whether they like it or not Bethlehem is a now a military zone and the Israelis are bound (and imho justified) to interpret their actions as trying to intefere and obstruct the arrest of the Palestinian terrorists that were sheltering there.
Have you read the Geneva convention lately dave? The people who fought and died for our freedom were labelled "Terrorists" aswell.
It's people like you who contribute to the misery and suffering in the world today with your "I know the whole story, these people are just the baddies, hiding from justice doled out by the goodies"bullshit, wake up and smell the shit Dave and do something positive instead of puting down others with guts enough to play their part.
Since when did Islamofacist suicide bombers ever observe the Geneva convention?
Since when were Islamofascist suicide bombers a recognised Government,Yawn..."ooh I still know it all, suicide bombers are baddies ooh ooh"Any way this leads nowhere Dave, just admit your wrong and maybe I might decide not to drive over your home and family in a bulldozer,or drop a 500lb bomb on your kids from a mile up.
The ISM activists in the Bethlehem church are very brave and humane people who have rendered humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people and whose presence I believe has at least assisted in preventing even worse Zionist crimes. I think we can all be very proud of activists like Mary Kelly and the other activists who displayed great courage and determination in a war zone. They provided food and medical assistance. They did not kill women, childen and elderly people.
