Madonna drops video out of respect for troops![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Pop superstar Madonna has pulled the controversial video for her latest single out of respect for the armed forces during the war. In the promo for her forthcoming single American Life she is dressed in combat uniform and in one scene a grenade is thrown towards a President Bush lookalike. It was due to be shown on TV channels later this week but Madonna has now decided it would not be appropriate to release it. She said: “It was filmed before the war started and I do not believe it is appropriate to air it at this time. “Due to the volatile state of the world and out of sensitivity and respect to the armed forces, who I support and pray for, I do not want to risk offending anyone who might misinterpret the meaning of this video. A statement issued on her behalf said the video had been the subject of “rumours and misinformation”. Madonna had earlier said that she was not anti-war but “pro-peace”. The single is due for release on April 14, while her new album will be out the following week. |
