news report
Friday March 28, 2003 15:02 by Hugh - Dun Laoghaire against the war
The events of the Barry Andrews protest Thursday March 27th A protest was held at Barry Andrews office in Blackrock on Thursday evening (Barry is one of our delightful members of the Dail who is complicitious on the issue of Shannon and the American militarys use there of for refuelling their warplanes) a croud of approximately 25 gathered outside his office and made it extremely uncomfortable for him to carry out his work. For two and a half hours we made our presence heard and seen. At 8:50 his clinic closed and he appeared from his office to go home with a number of his staff and of course with a Guarda escort. We followed him up and down the town to expose him to the people of Blackrock for the war mongerer that he is. We then sat and blocked his exit from the local car park, the guards theatened us with arrest but we refused to move. Shortly after a branch car arrived to take home! We in Dun laoghaire against the war intend on making the war mongerers life as hard as possible and intend to disrupt and picket every public clinic that he holds until he and his cronies in government get the message. |

P.S: Dont worry Barry ive a personal copy of your clinic times so your sneaky tactics wont work.
Would relish and pickle the opportunity to hassle McDrool seeing as he is one of the reps for my area....anyone for the next clinic time?
Any plans for another demo at McDowell's office? unfortunately I missed the last one.
Nice to see the TD's are being made to feel uncomfortable as a result of their support for the war.
Good stuff make their lives as uncomfortable as hell!
- His brother (david), of course, was a great supporter of ending Iraqi sanctions - didn't stop the fecker from going into the government Lobby on the Shannon vote though
Conor
Congrats on pissing him off its about time the belligerent little shit was exposed.
Although I only stayed for a brief period, I found the whole episode a bit of a damp squib. I appreciate the efforts of others for coming along but am disappointed at the low turn out. Back to the 'free rider' problem I suppose - usually characterised as "ah sure, someone else will turn up". I was impressed with the dedication of the small crowd chanting but the early departure of a number of our great force called the Garda Siochana told its own story.
This is a great idea and am willing to support it when I can with my presence but the numbers must be greater to cajole an apathetic public of the benefits of this type of action.
All I can say is: come along to the next one!!
