Ramadan has begun in Londonistan. It's another sign of how Islam is encroaching on Western culture, says Tim Dieppe. It's a long time since critics of any other religion were imprisoned. But don't you dare insult Islam!

Globalise Resistance Bulletin

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Friday March 28, 2003 10:30author by Globalise Resistance Report this post to the editors

Globalise Resistance bulletin 27/3/03

1. Anti War demo Saturday.
2. Public meeting 12th April: Bush in Europe 1st June, no pasaran!
3. Che Club, world music.

1. Anti War demo Saturday.

Saturday 29th March, meet 3pm at the Garden of Rememberance.

As the bombs rain down on the people of Iraq, it is more important than
ever to keep the pressure on those waging and supporting this war. Bush
has already admitted that it might take a lot longer than originally
anticipated, and we have seen the bombing of civilian targets.

Meanwhile our own government continues to allow the use of Shannon
airport by military aircraft on their way to the gulf, insulting our
intellegence by claiming that these aircraft are not involved in any
military action.

Last Saturday saw a march in Dublin of 10,000 people, and thousands more
all around the country. That was with only two days to mobilise. Let's
make this Saturday's demo the biggest yet!

2. Public meeting 12th April: Bush in Europe 1st June, no pasaran!

Saturday 12th April, Liberty Hall, 3 - 6pm.

Bush in Europe 1st June, no pasaran!
War and democracy: the Evian G8 summit.

This June the G8 meet in Evian, France. These are the eight largest
economic powers in the world, and between then are responsible for the
deaths of millions due to war and famine. Many will remember the
dramatic scenes of violence and police brutality from Genoa last year,
when one protester was killed by the Carabinieri. In the aftermath there
was speculation that future summits would be held in secret.

This year's summit will be attended by Bush and Blair and offers
Europeans the chance to make clear their opposition the "war on
terrorism" which is currently being used to justify the slaughter of
Iraqi people. Globalise Resistance will be organising buses and
accomodation.

Speakers:

Christophe Agguiton - ATTAC
Des Geraghty - SIPTU
Patrica McKenna -Green Party
