 Beginning as a peaceful protest, the annual RTS turned ugly when gardai charged innocent onlookers with motorbikes, landrovers, and batons. The following stills portray the initial gathering at the GPO The peaceful assembly at the Quay The direct assualt with a police vehicle of one individual, followed by an assault from the unnamed Garda(pictured)..who also happened to threaten your truly when asked for his number. The Garda on the motorbike ran a women over, then attempted to futher assault her. When approached he also threatened yours truly.

Jump To Comment: 1The only respectable Garda is that above, who was the only one to accept the offer of a handshake from the above individual. He was also the only officer to, later in the evening, answer any of my questions. In response to the violence inflicted by the other officers, as well as their neglecting to present or provide their badge numbers, the above pictured officer replied, "I dunno. You have to ask someone else." I thanked him for his insight.
Another officer was kind enough to provide me with his interpretation of independent media. After striking me with his truncheon, and after being asked if he cared to comment on the situation, he responded that the indymedia sight would "make a good read" due to the bias. I then asked for his interpretation, "on the record." I dont recommend persistence, i have another bruise as a result.
