The group of about 4 women and children are asking opposition politicans to join them in protest.

We have reports of mounted Gardaí and riot Gardaí surrounding the group

Following scuffles between protestors and Gardai enough space has been cleared from before the gate to allow one lane of traffic to move through. At least one protestor was injured. There is a large Garda presence of at least 30 officers and a mounted unit monitoring the protest which consists of about 20 engaged in a sit-down protest about about three times that of supporters.

The protest is continuing and FF/PD TDs leaving the House are having the protestors displeasure at their votes felt. Green party TD Paul Gogarty briefly addressed the crowd during the scuffles asking them to move to allow TDs out of the House as some of them had voted against the motion.

His response was not met with approval from the protestors and after vigorous remonstrance from those gathered Gogarty left.

A number of TDs left through the Merrion Square exit.

The behavior of the Green Party dude was disgraceful...they have consistently used this war to advance careers and agendas and undermine nonviolent reistance.

This guy is a severe opportunist building a career on an ever increasing pile of Arab corpses...he was told to fuck off and he did. It's one thing not to have the guts to resist this war, it's another to attempt to undermine those who are trying. This is what this bureacrat was doing.

i am ashamed to admit that i was the one that gave the green muppit the megaphone. in my extreme niaviaty i assumed he would tell the coppers to back off (in a more articulate way than i was "fuck off you scum" "leave us alone you pricks" - or something to that effect). thankfully caohme (spelling?) siezed it back off him, and he then proceded to tell us to 'fuck off' (his exact words).

grill the greens - by the way what was his name does anyone know?

Never dare to tell the ordinary people of Ireland acting within their rights in the spirit of non-violence to 'Shut-up and Listen' (I heard you say this 7 times as the guards forcibly removed peaceful protestors). Just because you are a coward and did not have the guts to participate in people power does not give you the right to project your pseudo-political authority...SHAME ON YOU!

The actions of Paul Gogarty was a disgrace. He basically came out and said that the vote had been defeated and we might as well all go home!

But the worst thing about his actions was his complete inaction when protesters were being beaten up and assaulted by the Gardaí. I was standing right beside him and i said that he should be intervening to stop the Gardaí. As much as some people may hate TDs they do have some respect from the Gardaí and he could have prevented soem people getting injured but he refused to do so. When I offered him a megaphone to call on the Gardai to stop he refuse to take it and said that he and his car had been blocked in for 3hours and he could not get home! It seems Paul cares more about getting home in his car than saving peacefull protesters getting assaulted by the Gardaí. I have lost any respect I had for the Green Party. They are no different to Labour.
