The fake lefties, trots, labour party, swp and ICTU could learn from this instead of their 10 minute (cigarette break) nonsensical work 'stoppage' By JEFF DONN, Associated Press Writer Having had months to focus on the buildup toward conflict with Iraq (news - web sites), America's anti-war activists say they are ready to mark the first days of war with protests in dozens of cities coast to coast. They vow to block federal buildings, military compounds and streets in a rash of peaceful civil disobedience. They say they will walk out of college classes, picket outside city halls and state capitols, and recite prayers of mourning at interfaith services.
Some groups are focusing on defense-related sites. Protesters plan to block traffic at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora, Colo., and sit in at the gates of Truax Field in Madison, Wis., which houses state guardsmen. In Baltimore, anti-war protesters say they will wash off an American flag splashed with red paint and oil to symbolize the blood and oil of a war with Iraq. In a gentler mood, peace activists expect to converge on an Islamic mosque in Birmingham, Ala. Some anti-war activists say their efforts will demonstrate support for American soldiers, because the best way to help them is to bring them home. But counter-demonstrators say they, not anti-war protesters, will be voicing genuine solidarity with the troops. Michigan State's College Republicans intend to organize a rally to back President Bush and the troops, said chairman Jason Miller. John Georges, a member of the College Republicans at the Rochester Institute of Technology, in New York, said his group will hand out American flags. Barbara Kerr of Schenectady, N.Y., who works at an American Legion office that helps soldiers' families, said she simply plans to get down on her knees and pray for her own son in the service. |

I honestly can't understand why our country can lie down and take all the lies our "leaders" have thrown at us. I will be there outside the dail on Thursday and i won't knock quietly in case i disturb anybody
The labour party and swp trots will not block the roads or do anything effective against this war as they are fakes as pointed out above.
In ireland the forces of the left are doing quite well. Dirct action needs support to work. For example in italy its actually the leninist partys and soft left doing most of the blockading not anarchists. Here its a tactic not an ideology and not seen as anarchist or trotskyist but a tactic that everyone uses. They've blockaded us airbases and trains, and all the unions are taking action on x day. Funnily enough though alot of italians think the irish are better at organising these things!
they will do sweet FA as usual.
In ireland the forces of the left are doing quite well at selling papers. Dirct action needs support to work which is why we refuse to support it and spend so much time attacking it. For example in italy its actually the leninist partys and soft left doing most of the blockading not anarchists but then in Italy even the soft left have an understanding of what is required to stop the war. Here its a tactic not an ideology [this is too meaningless to translate - what on earth is direct action as an ideology!?!] and not seen as anarchist or trotskyist but a tactic that everyone uses. They've blockaded us airbases and trains, and all the unions are taking action on x day. Funnily enough though alot of italians think the irish are better at organising these things which is pretty embarassing given all the effort the SP has put into opposing it!
all this slagging and bandying is tiresome - oh your SO fake - My banner is SO bigger than yours - Ill annoy this poor copper longer than you blah blah blah. You have little if any hope of stopping the war at all.
The effect of any action will be to highlight international concern and at this stage all we can do is stand on the shoulder of the war-mongers and keep them in check. We'll let them know of each and every tragedy they encur every other line they step across and we wont let the forget it until they learn from there mistakes. The only place that this war could have been prevented is within the confines of the UN Security Council. You immature ramblings have no effect beyound your scraggly bunch of mates. I doubt you have the literacy or capacity for the kind of debate or talk that takes place behind 'those' closed. If you were sat in front of Colin Powell your strongest argument would probably be : your a fooking dick, man.
Get a grip, we're dealing with serious issue with serious consequences not blabbing how COOL our 'action' is.
Could you imagine the types of anarchists we have in this country actually being a progressive international political force. What a joke. A bunch of wanna-be punks running around spray-painting stupid slogans in very bad handwriting on any wall that is just out of any cops or security persons view.
There as bad as bertie in terms of 'getting the job done'
